Ashford was best known as the "Ghost Knife of Callisto", and he left this galaxy like a warrior staring down his death right till the end, but his greatest accomplishment was helping to sharpen and pollish Camina Drummer, "The Sword of The Belt". By doing this, he made sure the dream of the belt would never die with him, and while I am sad he's gone, he left a worthy successor in the form of Camina.

Ashford's actor is old, obviously seasoned and holds magnificent screen presence(Reminds me a bit of Anthony Hopkins stealing all the limelight the moment he enters a scene). The fact that Drummer's actor grasps equal if not more attention from the viewer despite being young just speaks to her prowess and skill. Very impressive.

I know this is an old comment, but I just finished the season and that's what's been on my mind the most. I loved how they were abrasive with each other and critical of each other's decisions throughout, but ashford defended drummer to Fred johnson when he needed to. Shows that they really cared about each other, their post and the good of the belt.

It's because screen-Ashford is the complex of Carlos "Bull" C de Baca and book-Ashford. Series writers disassembled "Bull" (who was the most powerful protagonist in the book) and shared his parts among Drummer and Ashford.

I can’t get over how well edited this video is. When I fall in love with characters in shows or cinema I usually look for some good tributes and hype stuff related to them.. This is unbelievable. You’ve managed to capture the essence of both of them up through the end of season 4. Drummer was introduced and I didn’t give her respect, just figured she was another supporting character and not important. She’s turned into such an impressive character and then Ashford.. The man who I treated and cautioned as an antagonist and in the end he’s one of the most powerful characters to appear on the show. Their chemistry also was so well done. Great video! Keep them coming, I expect to see something great at the end of season 6!

In the book Ashford was a middle-management bureaucrat in over his head. The tv series changed him into a badass space pirate fighting to create a free and humane nation. One of the few instances where changing the source material was a huge improvement

Ashford became and remains my favorite character on the show. From his introduction it looked like Drummer was projecting her insecurities onto him. His opinions seemed legitimate and wise, and completely opposite to what we thought he would be about (I fully expected him to be the cynic ruining the peace with his agressive, violent ways). When Drummer calls him out on second-guessing her orders in public, he acknowledges the mistake. The episode where they are both pinned under machines, working out their differences and trying to work together, saving each other's life, may be my favorite episode. And then Ashford takes command of the Behemoth, orders them to spin the drum to create artificial gravity and invites all other ships in the sector to bring their wounded so they can heal... That was a great moment. I was sad when he died, but I loved that he held on to his dignity to the last. And the shanties! I just love the shanties. "Singing doesn't make you more interesting," says Drummer. Hard disagree!

Story of a former soldier who goes to check out a distress signal and ends up basically entangled with intergalactic forces with his trusty crew and ship. :) Biggest difference is that the game has aliens as crew mates and enemies:)

Great video man. I just quarantine-binged this show the last 2 weeks. Drummer has long been the best character, criminally under-used in the first 2 seasons. The addition of Ashford in S3 gave her so much to work with and David Straitharn absolutely stole every scene he was in. I wasn't really a big fan of S4 on the whole, but everything with these two was wonderful. Awesome work.
