Taping into his heritage with the usage of gunpowder to create the explosions is very eye-opening! This shows how you can intertwine your roots into art.

He uses the very things invented by his Chinese forefathers - paper and gunpowder! A brilliant artist who has never lost touch with his roots. I love it that his entire interview was done in Mandarin.

Thank you for this. I have till now been skeptical of installations as Art. But Cai's works have not only changed my mind but also gained a new perspective on the Artist's dialogue with his environment.

You have to see this work in person. The beauty of it was that I appreciated it as art even before I knew how it was made. So it succeeds as a traditional artwork as well as a conceptual piece. Absolutely brilliant.

@Yanaschaf5 жыл бұрын
I was wondering about that as well, looked it up and found: animal replica, fake wolves. I did not find more information yet. On the other hand, a lot of people sadly use all kinds of animal parts... so even if the fur is actual animal fur, why should we be criticising that an not criticise the usage of animal based paint brushes, leather as a working material etc... I'd never buy art that contains animal products :)

Kinda annoying to hear westerners pronouncing Chinese name wrongly. His last name is pronounced "Chai" (as in "chase"), not "Sai".

A true original, he has so many copy cats who cannot even touch him. Looking at one particularly mediocre artist in Oklahoma named “Jay Sage” who flat out stole his explosion drawing technique and uses it for bible verse art…
