Watched this movie on a plane on my very first flight to the US from Europe, I was 24. The film was shown on the big screen for everyone to watch and you could listen using your headphones or you could ignore it and just sleep. It was at night and at the end of the movie nobody was sleeping and I swear there was not a single person in the cabin who wasn’t crying. Surreal. An old man told us he used to know him and he was crying so much

Great movie but a lot of fictional fluff like majority of Hollywood films. According to brown and baker the movie wasn’t a truthful portrayal and got numerous scenes incorrect. He said the movie made things with race look much worse than they actually were. Especially during the cotton bowl in Texas

WTF!!!! Why have i never heard of this movie!!! I thought i've watched all the historic sports movies or similar to it a thousand times over and yet theres still more i havent seen??? Come on man ... The Express is a splendid movie of inspiration, talent and courage. It is truly shocking what treatment and discrimination Ernie Davis and his black teammates had to endure. We should all be ashamed. As Ernie said - it doesn’t matter what label in on the bottle, it’s still a bottle.

Many are "visually-oriented" and con-artists take advantage of that fact. In this movie, Ernie is "side-lined" with a leg injury. But then he returns, late in the game, to score the winning touchdown... Makes me wonder about the calibre of the quarterback who kept the team from "falling too far behind" while Ernie was injured. You catch a glimpse of him - white, frail, small-looking... not very photogenic, that other quarterback... A very clever movie.

I liked that scene where they managed to throw JFK into this movie, making a kind of "cameo appearance". History, is often reduced to personalities, and snapshots, has been so, since the days of dimestore novels, and stories about Billy the Kid. I guess whether you watch the daily news, or movies, the question is, What lessons, or wisdom, do you walk away with from downloading that stuff into you brain, and per chance, into your heart? How does it affect you, change you?... JFK, FDR,... some have oft wondered if Lincoln would ever have been elected if photography and motion pictures, and radio, had existed, back then... You have self-will, but self-will is an illusion, is a Jewish commentary about "perceived design" in things...

Images resonate with people when words don’t do the trick. Everybody watching the movie knows who JFK is or most likely would look him up. People had newspapers and photography before TV, but JFK was on television and a good looking chap so people knew about him. Anyway, I don’t think that says anything about whether free will exists or is an illusion. It’s the filmmakers knowing how to communicate their message in an effective medium. We can’t control not knowing or not thinking about something when we are not aware of said thing. I don’t think the image of JFK being used here is manipulative in any way. Just an emotional appeal that also is historically accurate if I am not mistake.

OK, this, is the best football movie I have ever seen. Before, it was, Any Given Sunday,... and before that, Heaven Can Wait (Warren Beatty), and before that, All the Right Moves (Tom Cruise)... I liked the "No label on the soda bottle sermon"... Sure, some have bottlecaps intact, others are broken, but really, it is what is on the inside that counts... Maybe they infected him with cancer?
