Hewler is the name was given the Hurrians who are one of ancestors of Kurds that were believed to be the first settlers.
@KinoYves2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for the explanation!
@kurd4lif32 жыл бұрын
The original city name is Urbilum from Sumerian. The Akkadians re-named it to Arbela. The city was then renamed Hawler which is a bastardised version of Hadhaban the Kurdish tribe that made it their capital along with Ushnu. This city belongs to the Kurds, they are the ones who have lived in the Qala not the Assyrians. The town has one christian district Ankawa and they are Chaldean Catholics not Assyrian Orthodox. The Ancient Assyrian capital was Ninawa. Prior to the arrival of the ancient Assyrians all these lands were Hurrian/Mittani and then later Median after their destruction of the Assyrian empire.

0:59 the name Erbil is the Assyrian name of the city because the city actually used to Assyrian. Hawler (or Hewlêr in Kurdish) is the Kurdish name for the city used by Kurds because for some reason Arabs and the government of Iraq prefer the Assyrian name over the Kurdish name. Also it's pronounced "haw-lare" The Kurdish letter Ê is similar to the E in the word "ten" or "men".

@TheM701610 ай бұрын
Most of these houses are abandoned in guess , so the car owners use these roads as a free parking area , that what i guess … this patern of parking is common in Iraq … and 7,000 years is the age of the city not the homes

Hello Mr. Yves, from New England. I would have such a hard time in a bazaar - I would want to buy everything. Actually, I always want to buy everything. But I don't need it, all, I can't carry it all, and I don't have much money. But the lukums and nuts and fabric and baskets and those woolly-looking vests - I would find all of them very tempting.
