Beckett and Simon review the HEAD Extreme MP Auxetic for 2022. They discover that it deliver excellent power and spin, boasting strong stability and excellent feel when compared with similar racquets like the Babolat Pure Aero, the Pure Drive, the Wilson Clash and Ultra 100's, and Yonex's EZONE 100 and VCORE 100.

The 2022 Instinct 360+ (CPI 600) 322 gr. strung with overgrip and vibra-dampener looks very interesting with 320-330 swingweight and Ra 62 and even balance-ish. That paired with some Head Lynx Tour grippy string at 52 lbs, then maybe a spinny + power + control stick for the advanced people with large pocket holes.

Awesome review. How would you compare the new EMP to the Pure Aero 2019? I used to play with that racket and loved the spin, but it lacked control and predictability when flattening out shots. I tried the new Aero 2022 but hated the feel. It's completely changed the feel, way less pop, super tinny feel. Would the EMP be the perfect fit?

I haven’t spent enough recent time with the PA 2019 to say much. Primary difference should be launch angle. PA has a much more open 16x19 and should have a higher launch angle. I also remember the feel to be too muted where as the EMP is more solid and responsive

Hello. Do you think that in terms of forgiveness the gravity MP auxetic is so much better than the extreme tour and extreme MP or are they similar? Which do you think is better in general for those who like a control racket, with feel, and hit more from the back of the court with a straighter hit and medium spin?
@TennCom

The Extreme MP is significantly more forgiving than both. From what you describe, I think the Radical MP would be a very good choice. Lots of control and great for flattish hitters. Very connected feel.

Beckett, I have my eye on a Team racket for the first time : Head Auxetic Extreme Team. I’m a 4.0 singles player, but I am also 74, so I don’t find myself facing heavy hitters often. I would like to go lighter… Are these Team versions just for beginners or juniors in transition?…. Do you know any 4.0 or higher who play with Teams??? What do you think?
@TennCom
@TennCom Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen players your age/level play with L versions of Yonex and Wilson, and the MxG 7 from Head (possibly the only player in the world to use MxG). The thick beam and slightly larger head size gives power and stability, but the light weight helps them maintain a high swing speed so they can play with good spin and continue to be “tricky old men.” I think Team versions are totally fine for players like you, but I haven’t actually tried it before.

Hey guys, I found the 360+ version very good, nevertheless I am playing right now with the Boom MP. I am really surprised by the solidness of the new lighter rackets. I am 43 and about an 5.5 NTRP compared to Germany. Playing most of the yeat in clay, you really need the spin potential. A comparison between both would be great. Best wishes

Thanks Andre! Unfortunately I won't be doing a direct comparison with the Boom MP unless someone sends me a free one. I am getting more interested in the Boom MP, as I've been hearing more stories of advanced players like you switching to it, but it's just not an interesting frame to me. I've also been thrilled will how much better a lot of the lighter racquets have become in the past 10 years. I think if I was playing mostly on clay right now, I would switch the the Extreme MP, pending the release of the 2023 Pure Aero.

Hi I use the older red/black wilson pro staff 97 (with led / 330g SW) from a couple years ago. I want better sweetspot for my D.backhand and some easier depth overall. I'm a 5.0 player. I play aggressive from the baseline. I've been considering switching to the extreme tour or the ezone 98 but now you made me confused. I can demo 2 rackets should I go for extreme tour + MP or tour + ezone?? Love your content!!
@TennCom
@TennCom Жыл бұрын
TBH I barely remember hitting with that version of the Pro Staff. The last PS97 I really remember using is the outgoing model, and that was back in Oct 2020, so its tough to give a very good comparison. I dont think that you'll like the Auxetic Extreme Tour. From what I remember, the older PS97s have a very consistent flex which keeps them very predictable, especially against big hitters. The Auxetic Extreme Tour will not do that for you. The 360+ version would, but Im not sure it's going to be enough of an increase in forgiveness for you. I would instead recommend trying the Radical MP. It sits very nicely between the Auxetic Extreme MP and the 360+ Extreme Tour, meaning it gets some of that forgiveness from the AEMP without it being quite a launchy. You'll also get that very responsive and communicative feel from the 360+ which is more reminiscent of older racquets. So I would try the Radical MP and the EZONE 98. Make sure you have some lead tape on hand though, as you'll want to bump up the swingweight for the demos.

@TennCom Жыл бұрын
@@berntfuruberg9423 I don't think you will enjoy the new Auxetic version, but if you can find some Graphene 360+ versions, then I think yes. But I don't think the increase in depth and spin potential is maybe 5-10% more at the same swingweight. Both the PS97 and ET360+ have a boardy-ness which leads to a very consistent stringbed. The Auxetic ET doesn't have that. It's more flexy and slongshoty like a Clash.

Thanks John! I would say that if you are looking for a 100 square inch power racquet, then one of these will work for you. Once you spend some time with both of these racquets, they differences become more clear, and I suspect players will choose one over the other depending on their preferences and swing type. I suspect that in general, the older demographic will prefer the Extreme due to the more raw feel, reminiscent of older racquets, where the Aero feels very modern and muted.

there has definitely been quite a lot of interest on the Speed MP, so its a possibility that we review it at some point, but its not likely in the cards for at least a few more months. One of the reasons i have cared to review it: i think the layup is basically the same between the Pro and the MP. They have the same flex and the same twistweight. I think the only difference is weight in the handle and the tighter string pattern, which leads me to believe that the MP likely suffers from the same instability issues we found with the Pro. Given the specs, I don't really see how the Speed MP could possibly be more stable that the Extreme MP, unless someone got review units that were way off spec (which is totally possible). Higher stiffness and thicker beam suggest that the Extreme MP should be more stable all day long. I would much prefer to use the Extreme MP over the Speed Pro due to better stability and a more predictable launch angle, even if the launch angle was higher

@TennCom
@TennCom Жыл бұрын
Launch angle refers to the rebound angle of ball off the stringbed. Higher launch angles lead to higher net clearance and easier depth. Their are typically found in more open patterned racquets. Lower launches angles (lower rebound angle of the ball off the stringbed) lead to lower net clearances and less depth, assuming the ball speed and spin is the same. Of course, strings and tension affect the launch angle as well.
