The sad thing is, the YF-17 that the F-18 was based on was apparently quite stiff competition for the YF-16. Granted, there were a lot of changes made to both aircraft between prototype and production, and the F-18 especially ended up being purpose built as a multirole fighter rather than the ACM monster it started out being. But the legacy Hornet at least should've had some of the same potential as the Viper.

It’s not really about the ranges as much as it is about situational awareness the f16 has with its datalink vs the f15 which doesn’t have a DL.

Actually a well flown F15C with good radar operating skills destroys any other aircraft. The only thing a 16 can do is to stay away and wait the opportunity to attack when he switches to another target

In 2020, I have found the GS KZbin channel and watched quite a few F-16 vids, then I jumped onto the GS Server. I absolutely demolished most of the other players in that server simply by copying what GS does. I had little to no understanding of BVR fighting, MAR or even dogfighting but I got a lot of kills and mostly returned to base safely, to rearm my AMRAAMs... The F-16 really is a superior BVR fighter to most jets out there, proved by me, a dumb-dumb who doesnt know anything about BVR, but can lock someone 60+ miles away and press a button... Because: Fly high, IFF, lock, launch Fox-3, crank, defend, maybe RTB, or (if not RTB) reengage, isnt really that hard lol

If you can, try placing the maverick in pre mode and finding your target with the TGP. Also something I learned (the hard way), is place your maverick seeker in narrow view to fire from a longer range.

What a beat in the heart for the last dogfight. I think you should practice your MiG-29 against an Su-57 Felon in both BVR and dogfight scenarios. My 21st mention about it, I suggest. You always made thrilling BVR combat situations using an F-16, so why won't you try a MiG-29 on a Russian 5th Gen fight? It should be great to know the jets' flaws.

I started with the F18 for the longest time. I then moved to the F16 for a good chunk of time. Then I went back to the F18 and after a few fights I was like NOPE going back to the F16 and been there ever since. I just wish they would update it with a modern F16 cockpit and loadout.
