From an article in the Aviationist: The F-22 is and remains the most lethal air superiority fighter ever. The Raptor has a huge advantage against its adversaries as demonstrated by the F-22’s incredible kill ratio against USAF Red Air (which play as enemy air forces during exercises) and its F-16s and F-15s, during the exercises undertaken in the last decade: for instance, during exercise Noble Edge in Alaska in June 2006, few F-22s were able to down 108 adversaries with no losses, while during the 2007 edition of the same exercise, they brought their record to 144 simulated kills. In its first Red Flag participation, in February 2007, the Raptor was able to establish air dominance rapidly and with no losses. As reported by Dave Allport and Jon Lake in a story which appeared on Air Force Monthly magazine, during an Operational Readiness Inspection (ORI) in 2008, the F-22s scored 221 simulated kills without a single loss.

BTW hes referring to the frontal RCS factor estimates. And the RCS factor of the F-22 is estimated by what Lockheed said. The F-35 estimates I think are know for the TEST model and the Pak-fa Estimates come from Sukhoi although its not known what band the measurements were taken in for the Pak-fa.

I figure it was taxiing in with one engine shut down. When the engine is shut down it might loose hydraulic pressure to keep the nozzle closed. On F-14s, you could tell which engine was shut down first by looking at the afterburner nozzles. When parked on the ground, one will be dilated and the other will be constricted.

F-22. Amazing machine, when in not hangar-queening over 'issues'. Vulnerable to the equivalent of zergling or marine rushes. Like supersonic propeller fighters or ultra-lightweight bare-bones cockpit jet fighters, all with semi-conscripted video-game jockeys for pilots.

That was not the reason the F117 was shot down. As soon as he left the base a phone call was made it was coming same route, same speed, same altitude, same time as he did numerous times before. Anyone with that info en equipment could have shot him down.

sukhoi even said the pak fa gives up some stealth for maneuverability. The pak fa has a rcs of 0.05m2 vs the f-22 0.0001m2. Pak fa is way less stealth then the f-22 and even the f-35 with a rcs of 0.001m2.

I know that, it may not be an outstanding aircraft in the market. However, it still is not the worst. I for one, believe that US aircraft are not capable of what the US cliams them to be. However, in a general sense, it is something to admire in the manner of art work.

CFA-44? Your joking me right? That is a fictional jet from Ace Combat 6, its not even real! Google it yourself! I think your referring to the PAK-FA, which actually resembles the F-22 in MANY, MANY ways. From an aerodynamic perspective, they both look on quite on par, but I'm pretty sure the F-22's avionics would blow the PAK-FA out of the water. The PAK-FA is also slightly bigger, but hey... if someone offered it to me as a Christmas gift for my "modified" garage, I'd take it! :D

China builds a lot of things that LOOK the same, but aren't quality at all. The F-22 and F-35 reduce the heat given off from their engines so IR doesn't find them as easily. They have sensor fusion. The J-20 doesn't even use Chinese Engines and I have no idea if there is sensor fusion. The J-20 is huge and so that will make it harder to hide from radar. The materials in it might not be nearly as radar absorbant or easy to maintain as the F-35. Lasers and direct energy weapons very close.

360 degree thrust vectoring is completely unnecessary on a twin engine aircraft with advanced flight controls. Adds weight, reduces stealthiness, and actually doesn't improve performance. The US was the first to have 360 degree thrust vectoring on test aircraft. Isn't something that is necessary unless you want to fly nose vertical and fly sideways

I know the F-18 , F-16, F-15, F-22 are great. But that is one fact about the T-50, BTW my favourite flanker is the Su-35BM. I dont hate the T-50 at all. Infact I really like that plane too. But the plane is not as stealthy as the F-22 and is going to have very low tech. Also its body is too large so its less agile but maybe more maneuverable (not sure). It cant carry as many internal weapons as the F-22.

You can't outmaneuver a laser. 3D thrust vectoring has been around a long time, but it increases weight and maintenance and if you can't outturn the weapons coming at you it won't help a bit. UAV's and F-35's are probably the way to go...even F-15's with radar jamming uav's or radar jamming f-35's. The J-20 isn't all aspect stealth. The engine exhaust is not stealth. Ventral fins and canards ruin stealth designs.
