Hey guys! I uploaded a different to cut to the Patreon page, but I wanted to be clear: it's not to lock anything behind a paywall. Unfortunately, the KZbin Algorithm is a picky monster, and I tend to cut out segments where I'm rambling and carrying on, as they're terrible for retention and thus the channel. But enough people have asked for it, so if you'd like more of me just BSing and getting nerdy about the project, head to the Patreon page and subscribe for 7 extra minutes of content. :) www.patreon.com/stanceworks

The F40 was pretty ahead of it's time chassis wise. I think modern components and strengthen frame section would probably do wonders for the way the cars drive. But sadly, many F40's never get driven because they are to collectable/valuable now. I do think Mike's on the right path though with doing it with just a shell. Taking a F40 and doing what he did the the 308 might be the worse move in history. lol. But I've also heard in the past you can take a 308 shell, and pretty much convert it to a F40 by adding rebuilding the rear sub section longer. If that's true, I'd be tempted to kill the 308 I just finished building, and slap the F40 body onto it. lol

@@danielgoonan3754 There's literally nothing wrong with what Mike is doing. It's just funny to see the level of completely unnecessary coping with the fact that it's a homebuilt car with an F40 body, not a Ferrari F40. That doesn't make the project any less cool at all, it's ok. You guys can relax and celebrate what it is. My dad used to own/publish a car magazine. He was friends with many dealers, so test driving was a regular occurrence. Some of those dealers were selling/storing exotics. One winter day we stopped at one and they had not one but TWO F40s they were storing/maintaining at that time. The owner was gracious enough to remove the covers, let each of us sit in it and we started it up as well. I cherish that memory as I will never own one and they are my absolute favorite. By the time my daughter was 9 (shes 16 now) she had sat in about $15m worth of cars. Lucky kid. Good luck with your build, you got a new subscriber!

I’m not knocking this (it’s his time / effort / money), but if it’s going to be an updated 80’s style race car, and does see the track, there is a very real chance it will receive damage……in racing it’s not if / it’s when something will happen; even in time attack / non-wheel-2-wheel racing off-track excursions result in significant damage even when no contact is made with anything (just hopping the curbing and the gravel / sand trap stopping the car rapidly)…….all things can be fixed but, the body is the is eye watering part to replace and most easily damaged by scenarios like mentioned above…… If he’s making a SEMA type vehicle that has the engineering of a race car but, doesn’t see the road or competition then this make sense, but if is getting used for the purpose he eluded too near the end of the vid, I’d probably be making body molds right now.

Hey Mike, I love when you speak the truth, this car is 40 years old, maybe it was the best from this time period, but things have changed since, and a racing tube frame can be a lot better than the original car was, and as you said, it's your vision of it so do as you want and it will be great ! There's always people who know more and pretend to be og when they aren't, never mind hater and purist telling you how it should be, because only one person is spending money on this build, it's you ! We are just along for the ride, if someone doesn't want to enjoy it, ok get out of the avendture and move on, no one is forcing you to watch ! I'm very excited to follow your build and see your dreams come to fruition. I love when a great mind buid his dream project, it's inspiring other to follow their dream too ! I wish you luck and hope I can see the final product !

Let the naysayers say. Truly, the tube chassis is better, period. Especially for your purposes. I am curious what motor and gearbox you are putting in this thing. I feel like it needs to match the audible ... ness of the original turbo v8. Cheers man.

I know you want to build a frame from the ground up, but it will be a lot easier to register it for the street if you start with a Ferrari 308 VIN. Get a wrecked 308 (GTS, GTB, even GT4) and just use the front and rear firewalls and floors. Nothing structural. Basically that stuff from a 308 would just save you a bit of sheet brake fabrication, and you'd get the VIN plate. And if you start early enough you don't have to worry about smog etc.
