Hey guys! I uploaded a different to cut to the Patreon page, but I wanted to be clear: it's not to lock anything behind a paywall. Unfortunately, the KZbin Algorithm is a picky monster, and I tend to cut out segments where I'm rambling and carrying on, as they're terrible for retention and thus the channel. But enough people have asked for it, so if you'd like more of me just BSing and getting nerdy about the project, head to the Patreon page and subscribe for 7 extra minutes of content. :) www.patreon.com/stanceworks

The F40 was pretty ahead of it's time chassis wise. I think modern components and strengthen frame section would probably do wonders for the way the cars drive. But sadly, many F40's never get driven because they are to collectable/valuable now. I do think Mike's on the right path though with doing it with just a shell. Taking a F40 and doing what he did the the 308 might be the worse move in history. lol. But I've also heard in the past you can take a 308 shell, and pretty much convert it to a F40 by adding rebuilding the rear sub section longer. If that's true, I'd be tempted to kill the 308 I just finished building, and slap the F40 body onto it. lol

I’m not knocking this (it’s his time / effort / money), but if it’s going to be an updated 80’s style race car, and does see the track, there is a very real chance it will receive damage……in racing it’s not if / it’s when something will happen; even in time attack / non-wheel-2-wheel racing off-track excursions result in significant damage even when no contact is made with anything (just hopping the curbing and the gravel / sand trap stopping the car rapidly)…….all things can be fixed but, the body is the is eye watering part to replace and most easily damaged by scenarios like mentioned above…… If he’s making a SEMA type vehicle that has the engineering of a race car but, doesn’t see the road or competition then this make sense, but if is getting used for the purpose he eluded too near the end of the vid, I’d probably be making body molds right now.

Nooo, you’ve been to Germany without a meet & greet ?? 😱😭 😜 I love this project, the F40 is my dream car! Unfortunately I could only afford a Maserati 4200 Cambiocorsa… at least it has a Ferrari engine 🤷🏻♂️ However, I can’t wait to watch next episodes. 👍🏻💪🏻

If you want a real F40 that looks just like every other F40, go look at that. That has to be the best part of the video. Looking forward to this build.

This is hitting all the marks, screw the people who say it won't be a real F40, this will be better all around. Congrats on this journey !

I know you want to build a frame from the ground up, but it will be a lot easier to register it for the street if you start with a Ferrari 308 VIN. Get a wrecked 308 (GTS, GTB, even GT4) and just use the front and rear firewalls and floors. Nothing structural. Basically that stuff from a 308 would just save you a bit of sheet brake fabrication, and you'd get the VIN plate. And if you start early enough you don't have to worry about smog etc.

Judd 5.5L V10 would be insane but they are expensive AF. I think a 458 Speciale motor would be a great mix of practicality, period-correctness, and sound. Just my thoughts.

I think it will be a turbo'd BMW V10
@joecosta34162 ай бұрын
@@Flying_Fetus Wouldn't a Judd engine be high on maintenance? I feel like it'd definitely be more practical to go for an engine with rebuilds rated by miles instead of hours. A more modern v8 Ferrari engine would be pretty cool!

I swear, if Mike managed to pull of a salvaged Formula 1 engine from the 90s or 2000s to put in his F40, I will lose my shit.

Hands down the most interesting and least pretentious car channel out there! And the fact that you're NOT building the F40 with original parts is actually the most exciting part of this build!!!

Fantastic episode as always. I know what's coming and what's happened up to this point (shout out patreon/discord private lounge), yet still the excitement of seeing it all in cinematic form made me not even realize I was already at the end of the video. Y'all are definitely killing it, and I'm happy to see y'all finally getting the eyes, recognition, and sub gains you've always deserved. Excited for episode 3 because none of these guys has a clue what's coming.

The bar is so high the guesses have to be proportional. I'm guessing a McLaren F1 V12. Mike went to Germany and he's a BMW nut.

@@TheCarGuy37 Me, I'm thinking Ferrari/Maserati V8 or even a V12. Putting anything other than a Ferrari engine in it would be HERETICAL
@TheCarGuy372 ай бұрын
The problem is that no one wants to work on Ferrari engines, and all work is stupid expensive. That's why he's got a Honda engine in a Ferrari already. I was just being proactive.
@RhombusProductions2 ай бұрын
Yeah, but if he wanted something affordable, he wouldn't have gone for fully original new old stock body panels. He explained in the video he wanted to build a real F40, and it would only be fitting for a real Ferrari to have a real Ferrari engine.

This is rad. I remember thinking during the 244 build "dude should just cut out the old chassis and tube frame that bad boy". Now you are doing it with a freakin F40 body and i'm all in for it. You are building the 80's/90's kids dream car fleet. thanks for sharing.

When I was a child I read my grandfather's car & driver and it had the Ferrari f40 VS Porsche 959. Although I was into motor and mechanical stuff before. This is what got me into cars and the F40 has been my first love with the general Lee being a side chick.

The 244 build kept me entertained for a couple years. I looked forward to every episode. But this is not only NEXT level, it is the highest level. This is the best project on YT, hands down. A modern iteration of an F40 will be wild to see. You get a chance to fix, improve & upgrade a lot of the weak points & flaws with original cars. Plus adding a more motorsport feel, along with very obvious performance & safety upgrades.
