Hey guys! I uploaded a different to cut to the Patreon page, but I wanted to be clear: it's not to lock anything behind a paywall. Unfortunately, the KZbin Algorithm is a picky monster, and I tend to cut out segments where I'm rambling and carrying on, as they're terrible for retention and thus the channel. But enough people have asked for it, so if you'd like more of me just BSing and getting nerdy about the project, head to the Patreon page and subscribe for 7 extra minutes of content. :) www.patreon.com/stanceworks

@brokensmilephotoСағат бұрын
The F40 was pretty ahead of it's time chassis wise. I think modern components and strengthen frame section would probably do wonders for the way the cars drive. But sadly, many F40's never get driven because they are to collectable/valuable now. I do think Mike's on the right path though with doing it with just a shell. Taking a F40 and doing what he did the the 308 might be the worse move in history. lol. But I've also heard in the past you can take a 308 shell, and pretty much convert it to a F40 by adding rebuilding the rear sub section longer. If that's true, I'd be tempted to kill the 308 I just finished building, and slap the F40 body onto it. lol

My dad used to own/publish a car magazine. He was friends with many dealers, so test driving was a regular occurrence. Some of those dealers were selling/storing exotics. One winter day we stopped at one and they had not one but TWO F40s they were storing/maintaining at that time. The owner was gracious enough to remove the covers, let each of us sit in it and we started it up as well. I cherish that memory as I will never own one and they are my absolute favorite. By the time my daughter was 9 (shes 16 now) she had sat in about $15m worth of cars. Lucky kid. Good luck with your build, you got a new subscriber!
@johnlaw57623 сағат бұрын
I found/find it very hard to understand paying what is clearly a frightening amount of money for a real shell alone since the complete car will likely be worth less than what was paid for these parts (?) BUT your outro rant is completely fair…this is your car…the way you want it. And probably a passion project over a financial investment. I know you want to build a frame from the ground up, but it will be a lot easier to register it for the street if you start with a Ferrari 308 VIN. Get a wrecked 308 (GTS, GTB, even GT4) and just use the front and rear firewalls and floors. Nothing structural. Basically that stuff from a 308 would just save you a bit of sheet brake fabrication, and you'd get the VIN plate. And if you start early enough you don't have to worry about smog etc.

@@matviyk3066 Haha, I think it would be a sure bet that 99+% of Ferrari owners have no idea what a valve cover gasket is. And when you're the customer then you can get as picky as you want to make it what you want. And if the manufacturer is smart they will embrace what your doing or even help.
