Oh I know why - t'was the 80s! Some homes didn't even have phones (ours used to be locked by Mother lol) we used red street corner phone boxes that always smelled of urine for some peculiar reason. There wasn't the Wide World Web not even a hint of it. Infact we lived extremely parochial lives. In my mid-20's I emigrated to Oz - that was a huge feat.
