Crimes? Name a crime he’s committed. You’re welcome to have your OPINION on the extent to which social media companies should limit what people are able to post on their sites, but there is nothing criminal about the degree to which they chose to do so unless it crosses into criminal boundaries such as child pornography.

@@americancitizen748 That's just the problem, most people can't handle the whole thing, they can't keep things in perspective, also it's good that there's alternative news sources to the big biased network news agencies but the problem is people latch onto some news site that tells them what they want to hear and the next thing you know things start getting extreme, and that's how the "polarization" happens.

No Jeff, because everyone has the right to vote. You fail to see your own intellectual elitism even after a documentary just described for two hours how walled gardens are created, how companies like facebook literally sponsor internet for entire nations so that they can onboard the entire populace as users. If you took a little of that time you spend being arrogant and narrow minded and dedicate it to understanding and not insulting, you will see that you can't just blame people for being 'stupid' because they dont behave in the way you do, and know what you do. It's not that hard to understand that people have different perceptions of the world based on their experiences. And what makes yours so much better? Just because you have it? Many, many people have never owned a computer and have only ever owned smartphones where facebook is the 'browser' because of their socioeconomic histories. Should they not vote because they're had different opportunities to you? Or maybe they are all just idiots. You think you're better, just like the people you ridicule think they're better. You're just the same. We all are. But you're not part of the problem Jeff, you're special.

I listened to this a second time. To me the most telling statement was at the end of this part. " I can't leave Facebook. All my friends and family are on Facebook. " I used that excuse also. Then Cambridge Analytical happened. I dropped Facebook then and haven't returned. Best thing I have done. Now if I want to talk to friends or family I actually have to engage in conversation with them. Facebook is not a social media. It is the opposite. It allows people to say whatever they want from the safety of their couch without having to interact with our neighbors.

Facebook is so criminal, corrupt & FOS it's ridiculous. Nowadays or ever since the 2016 presidential election facebook has really been on a heavy censorship crusade censoring any & everything that might be informative to the uninformed as far as the status quo is concerned. But to hide this they use a so-called "community standard" policy to block out what THEY (not you) might feel is unacceptable. In other words they think for you without GAF of how you might see it. That right there is a violation of people rights. Why would they take it upon themselves to restrict things that's posted when there's already certain controls that the individual can use to filter out post that maybe offensive to them (& not 'facebook admins')??? They'll even restrict fb users for post that was posted way before they even put the policy in place & then will give you no option or opportunity to dispute the violation.

I hear that Facebook is too easy to be hacked, and there is no way to contact them about it I am stilled pissed because these hackers go onto my page back in 2018. And we found out they were hackers from Nigeria and they took everything off the left-hand side of the page to where I could not delete it. My husband was a vet and passed away and people that went posted how his viewing was set up all my grandkids pic and family and friends I swear if I had a way to contact them still instead of all my friends reporting and they still do to this day have my page and putting up smut and it isn't fair. I will never trust Facebook ever again I don't follow any social media to this day too much bad shit happens I even email the support and they just keep telling me to delete the page will I can't because I can't even get into it anymore know I am totally screwed.

I remember when facebook began... by then I was maybe in Grad School - Many of my college friends/ high school friends refused to engage in that website - They could feel from many miles away the dangers that a media like that could help create: There is a lot of good to facebook: It has exposed many people's true feelings ... because as you stated, many people will say what they really think from the comforts of their own couch & room ~ which they may not say at all in a public setting or on the phone, at an outing etc. The website has exposed how many of us try cases/ engage in deliberation/ jury duty from our own homes, analyzing and making judgments/ decisions that we may not ever say in public. I can tell a lot of what someone thinks by - if they "Like" a post or comment, - or if they read something you sent them without responding - or if they accept your friend request, won't respond to your request for weeks, or deny a friend request immediately or after 2 weeks or a month etc. The website actually helped me understand better who is 1) a true friend or 2) a useful acquaintance or 3) a nostalgic acquaintance who today it might be best to keep our distance from each other Etc. I have family members who I realize now after years of "Facebook friendship" that we really are perhaps best off NOT being friends: There are cousins of mine who think my parents are their "friends". But in reality I hear my parents ripping those cousins apart at the dinner table in conversation - telling me how 'those nephews and neices are troublemakers. ... they like eating sh!t.... so what do you do with someone who likes to eat sh!t: You give them sh!t on a plate and they eat it right up". These are things your close confidants will tell you that if they are smart they may NEVER say in person or on social media.

Thats why young people need to step up and replace those old politicians, instead just grumbling or some even made up some conspiracy theories which just created more chaos and confusion. Clinton, Bush and Trump were born in 1946 and in 2008, we have elected Obama who was born in 1961. 8 years later, in 2016, both US president candidates were older than the current one at the time. Shouldnt it have told us all how much we were falling back ??? Most people who were born around the 60's are the waste of the generation, MOST of them coz of the 80's drugs used

People have short attention fans. People watch ten minutes videos and they consider themselves educated. A two hour documentary takes too much time. And forget about reading. Some people have legitimate excuses, like trying to survive under capitalism, raise children, and barely have any alone time. Other people spend hours on facebook or binging on Netflix. Lack of civic duty and class consciousness.

"We didn't know we were doing so much damage . . ." I think there's a moral obligation, and also legal e.g. when companies pollute rivers, or when tobacco companies cause cancer, so that (wanton) ignorance is not an exonerating circumstance. I think ignorance in this kind of situation may count as negligence which is culpable. Anyway, it's easy in hindsight to castigate.
