Lyrics:
An atrophied frame by an impotent rapture sustained
A god you will truly never see
"Thou shalt" unfurling in the wind
Rising above with an "I will"
The shrouded impulse of your self preservation
A flash of the fearful wickedness inside
Phantoms dreamt to life by the desperately lost
Despisers of life bound in other worldly hopes
Voices from above
Mere delusions of shame and guilt
Say goodnight to the voices in your head
You never heard them anyway
You might just be insane
I ascended carrying ashes
Upon my descent I carry my fire through the valleys
It's radiance outshines the wicked light
The sleepers are awakening with the falling of the sun
Casting the darkness into light
"Into a god's mask your dreadful coiling snake has crawled"
Now unsurp the throne and possess creation
"Thou shalt" unfurling in the wind
Rising above with an "I will"
A purified mind
In the death of lies becomes alive
Extinguishing the fires of hell.

I've listened to a lot of metal over the years and there's been a lot of guitar solos by legends like John Petrucci and Kirk Hammett, but I swear on my life the outro solo on this song is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard

I listen to a lot of bands that contradict religion and I'm like whatever I dont care. Good music and good lyrics. But not to be offensive or anything but most atheists aren't like that but neither are most Christians but whatever's keep it up The Faceless I've loved you guys for a good 4 years now.

Are you on your period? How is this not metal? Most would say they're evolving metal. Just because you can't mosh to the song doesn't mean it sucks. Technical death metal is one of the hardest forms of music, I would rather have a much mature, different and darker sound than another Planetary Duality or Akeldama.

I'm not saying it's a religion but they way used to deliver the concept is pretty much the same as any religion nowadays i.e. via spamming. I don't mean to offend anyone, so I'm gonna stop now so that the comment section doesn't turn to be a forum (too late for that now though, I guess) Plus, I'm not very fond of arguing with teenagers (again, no offense intended). I'm just here for the music and sorry again for participating in this little debate.

People who watched the video of The Faceless stealing riffs, let's mention Keene's influences are Extol and Opeth. The Devin Townsend thing is pretty similar, but they made a kind of mix, wehich for I guess is something different, they recombined two awesome elements. But well, congrats to The Faceless, this band brought one of 2012's best albums
@drummakid101

I love how a ton of people are saying that these riffs sound the same to 'blank', yet do you see the artist 'blank' come up in this bitch complaining saying "Hey dudes, wtf? You stole my shit!?" NO. Why? Because these artists understand that they serve their music and do their own music justice by simply tipping their hats to their influences. Just because you hear a similar riff, perhaps even the same riff, doesn't make you better in anyway.
@Budjha

No, I just give my opinion. Since when do progheads need to like every progressive release? Let me explain: I don't like the vocals since they feel forced and not natural. So it's not my cup of tea. I still think this album is a solid release though. What gives you the idea that I'm "biased"? Ok maybe I was a bit too harsch in my comment but why should I not listen to "prog"? I listen to all kinds of music and I think music needs criticism to become better.
@MrWiggerdale123

I can't take your opinion seriously. The fact that they chose to include more clean vocals - alienating fans like you who believe that metal needs to brutal 24/7 - is an inspired move. The variety within the first 3 tracks alone should strike you as inspired, but whatever. As far as Keene is concerned (at this point) The Faceless will continue in a melodic direction keeping the core brutality. So I guess this is so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen; you won't be missed.

Damn guys. All my friends told me basically the same thing about this album, claiming how its nothing like the old Faceless and that it's no good. Soo glad I didn't listen to them. This album is such a masterpiece. They were right that it's pretty different from old Faceless. But I'm liking this Faceless alot more. Wished they didn't play in drop C though, standard tunings are the way to go ;)

Of course there is no definite meaning the song has, of course you don't have to pay attention to every single little detail of a song, but that doesn't mean others shouldn't, let them argue, let them discuss. I agree with you when you mean the guys who have nothing better to say than curse words and insults. But the ones who are genuinely and normally discussing, what's the harm in that? I for one would love to hear others opinion on a song.
@ThePandema
@ThePandema 12 жыл бұрын
*Sigh*, I haven't missed the point. I'm telling the people who are arguing over what they believe to be the "true" understanding of this song and album that their is no definitive 100% certain meaning to anything. Each person should take what they want to take from music and any other form of art and respect the opinions of others. Even if I did just mindlessly listen to the music, where is the harm in that? The lyrical meaning maybe deep but that doesn't mean that one must take full heed of it.

I personally say Don't associate your religious beliefs with your music Cuz your only gonna contradict your beliefs Music is music let it stay that Just let the song be what it is If you like it then that's cool If you don't like it that's cool If you don't agree with an artist and their choice of lyrics Well who gives a fuck Lyrics don't make a song The instrumental makes the song

if you listen to their interlude song off this album called hail science you will understand that neither of which you just said is true. that they, like me, believe that religion has run its course and is now obsolete, that we can finally be rid of the ignorance, and hatred that all religion breeds, and evolve as the human race through knowledge and self empowerment, and so what even if they even are tryng to be blasphemous? i dont know why it thats such a big deal, its their belief. not yours.
@AnodyneRain

I'm not here to start an argument about religion. But I don't think there's any delusion behind religion as a whole. Yes, there are extremely flawed religions (mainly christianity) but the main goal behind many of them is to teach people to do more for others than they do for themselves. And just because science has risen does not mean man or religion will fall. Religion has been a part of mankind since the very beginning, and will likely continue to do so until the very end.
