Thumps up bro👍. U said people does it for the beauty of it and I agree. What they don't know is dt snails doesn't necessarily like what we love. Humans love to see beautiful gardens. People will soon realised dt the people encouraging to go into the green house system are not into snail farming but into construction.

Some interesting points you made about some consultants, but please green house is easier to manage. If I may say, everything depends on application. So someone who had a bad start with greenhouse may write it off. A proper greenhouse have properly channelled walkways that ensure full access to all areas of the farm Proper proofing of the farm means that insects invasion is rare

Samuel, In the bush or forest snails are facing more danger (ants, etc) and challenges (fall accident, lake of food, sun, etc) than in a protected safe greenhouse. The gallery system is definitively labor intensive compared to the greenhouse. With the gallery system you have to clean all the time, collect the eggs manually, with the risque of breaking the eggs or touching them. How long does it take to collect all the eggs from 3000 snails? How long does it take to check, feed 3000 snails, and control the humidity manually? I do believe that greenhouse present more advantages. Now that you mentioned not being able to go everywhere in the greenhouse, I will say that its depend on how you lay you concrete slab to walk on. Plus you can buy a long Selfie Stick Tripod for your cellphone to monitor remote places in the greenhouse time to time for ants or other creatures. But you made your case and I like the idea of confronting ideas to bring progress. Good video though.

Thanks for reaching out but what’s the matter with being labor intensive when it’s returns are much greater than the supposed greenhouses? Your returns can comfortably afford the labor. The greenhouse is only a lazy man’s approach and people are not alarmed because it’s designed to blind you from seeing the damage in real-time. Imagine 2000 snails in an average greenhouse, note that already it’s crowded. In a year, with 80% of them laying just 200 eggs multiplied by 3 lays will give you 960,000 eggs. Is that the reality on the ground? No, because their hatching rate is so low and even when 50% hatches there is a high mortality due to overpopulation and competition. I really do not see the worry in employing 6 workers when I can comfortably pay them whiles making a million cedis
@gml52122 жыл бұрын
@@k.t.samuel, I am worry about the manpower probably because I am from the diaspora and would like to build a green house that someone with little training can manage for me that why I mentioned the labor issue. If the person managing your farm is not constantly there it might be a big issue. But when I return home I can agree to do what to said. Keep up the good work Samuel.

@@gml5212 that’s okay, I do not know the country you’re in but please note that certain snails will do perfectly in even the free range system. So it’s important to know what best fits your location.

Relatively the species being farmed here have so many natural predators, hence the need to create the right environment. As you may know, the Americas and Europe do not have natural predators for our species and that’s why I are alarmed when they find them there. The other snails can thrive a various types of housing not only because of the absence of many natural predators but also because of their nature and adaptability. I just hope I make sense.

if the greenhouse system is not good how about them in the open bush or forest where they face all these things
@k.t.samuel2 жыл бұрын
I explained they face challenges in the bush and that is why they go on long aestivation periods. It makes no sense limiting them in a greenhouse with lesser supervision. How is it better when it’s hard to find an ant infestation or check the hatching rate of your farm?
@homegardeninguk9 ай бұрын
lol, I believe that's the whole essence of farming snail in the first place. Because of these challenges in the wild
@unlong95772 жыл бұрын
I disagree with you. The snail that live in the bush nobody arvest their eggs but they do well in the bush. Greenhouse is the best. They live normal life in greenhouse like the bush
@k.t.samuel2 жыл бұрын
Live normal? That’s why there’s always a shortage of snail in the market. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
@homegardeninguk9 ай бұрын
You see, that's the point we are not getting, the main aim of farming, especially wild animals is to give them an advantage they otherwise won't get in the wild. Like protecting them from certain predators and increasing their productivity. If they were doing well in their so called natural environment, there won't be a need to farm them in the first place

The ants you are talking about, there is a treatment used to prevent their invasion on the green house field. i. e nim powder and nim oil. So dont talk as if the nim solution u spoke about doesn't work, not to talk of the nim powder and oil, a well recommended treatment for soldier ants and the likes. You are rather causing panic especially among those who have little knowledge about snail farming and wants to venture. Why must you bring up a submission this way, yes even though you have some facts out of your observations doesn't mean u can just come out with your opinion to cause panic among new comers. In everything there is pros and cons, so you can't damage something from hundred to zero that way based on your little observation. A well construted green house will have not just one path way but alot of pathways to access the entire green house field. So instead of condemning with your little observation, u can base on your little observation to rather educate farmers to construct more path ways to access all corners on the field to save investures money and encourage new comers. I believe l have solved your worries concerning ants invasion and access to various corners on the snail green house for you?
@k.t.samuel2 жыл бұрын
You haven’t solved anything. Neem powder is a temporary solution. In few days or weeks, the ants will return. You should do some more research. Why do you say I have little knowledge when you don’t know me? I thought your defense was that it’s a natural habitat and the showers will take away ants. So why do you want to use neem oils? Why are you limiting the snails but exposing them to insect attacks? I am not causing panic, I am educating people. Thanks
@k.t.samuel2 жыл бұрын
Talking about more paths, why do you need more paths? Isn’t it supposed to be a mini forest? More paths will further limit the snails to a smaller area.
@k.t.samuel2 жыл бұрын
If you think neem treatment is very efficient, why are other greenhouse farms using the palm oil approach? Keep the snails in a top controlled system so they are not in so much threat. That’s how you save investment
