The Kansas Governor & Legislators gave away $10,000,000,000......$10 Billion! Now the State is in deep doo-doo and the people of the State are going to have to somehow payback that $10 Billion with increased Taxes, Fees, Licenses, anything that will generate income is on the line. Now Kansas will suffer a Depression!

can someone tell me how the recent gop tax plan differs from this Kansas tragedy?

Kansas is a single state while GOP tax cut plan in on Federal level.

Scale. One effects a state, the other a nation. Both plans were based on the ideology of the "Trickle down effect".

The largest difference is actually that a country can run a yearly deficit. A state can not. A state MUST have a balanced budget. A country is capable of doing this because it is also capable of printing its own currency. One of the main reasons the Greek economy crashed the way it did was that it ran a deficit without being able to print its own currency, since it gave up that right to participate in the euro-based economy. Don't get me wrong. I don't believe a country SHOULD run a deficit, at least not its better economic years. It should save deficit spending for recession recovery in the same way a state has a 'rainy day fund.' But it CAN theoretically run on deficits into perpetuity, unlike states. Tax cuts and deficit spending is still a matter of stealing from the future to live more richly in the present, something which is becoming more and more common among Americans and the entire world to a lesser extent.

Let me re-ask my question in another way. Why does the GOP think it will turn out any differently nationwide?
@erinsmith72197 жыл бұрын
That is a darn good question, but unfortunately, Republicans will run around the question while never directly trying to answer it. The short worst answer is "money," with all the breaks the wealthy get from the GoP tax reform bill, they think the rich will donate more to conservative causes; while the reality is, the rich, will keep their money, right where it is now, in their own pockets.

Sam Brownbacks tax cut plan, went too far, too fast and Gov Brownback was not willing to be "flexible" with his conservative policies which is why the "experiment failed" miserably! Raising property taxes and sales taxes, will not meet "economic projections" of tax growth, as it impacts those least able to pay, meaning the poor, elderly, the disabled and those living in poverty! Better to go back and "re-examine" the cuts to income taxes and be flexible, about any and all changes and then gradually cutting or raising as necessary to stimulate economic growth!
