✨rags✨ it's really quite sad. what happened to keke's music career. she tried for so many years but every label couldn't be bothered. i did hear that she's still making an album tho so maybe there's still hope. it's crazy to me how disney and nick lose so many chances by being so lazy. they could've easily have made loads more money and become way more solidified in the industry over all by attracting more artists, collabs etc. branching out is always the goal. it's weird that such huge companies can't figure shit out. anyway atleast max is thriving lol he ran away from nick and disney so fast. good for him and ari. smart choices. im still mad that the rags soundtrack isn't on spotify 🥴

@@littlelou050 This. I've always wondered why they never signed Max and Keke as its clear they recognized how talented both of them were, or else they wouldn't have cast them as the two main leads in the movie. Having said that, it definitely worked out for the better for Max though as I doubt he'd have seen the level of success he's seen recently had he signed to one of Nick's labels (and I wish the same could be said for Keke but nobody ever gave her a chance). Also, as far as I'm aware most of the soundtrack is on Spotify under Rags Cast though I might be wrong haha

@Portalain0 Жыл бұрын
I saw them in August too! Also, I agree, they deserve to see greater success than they have as they're really talented. That said, I think that them not distancing themselves from Nickelodeon in their reunion has been both a blessing and a curse in that on one hand it helped them retain some of their old/pre-existing fans and capitalize on the nostalgia associated with the show - which lead of course to them starting back up with a decent size audience which is good - but on the other hand seems to be a bit limiting in that (thus far) it seems to have inadvertently resulted in them not seeing as great of success as they could with their current music, with the band playing it safe and still being known to most as "that band from that show", which you'd think would be a good thing but isn't exactly when you consider that many people were somehow unaware that the band existed outside of the show when it was on, and/or were viewed as more of a novelty than anything to some I hope that makes sense as I'm not the best at explaining shit sometimes haha

didnt 1D start off their career post x-factor by opening for BTR? like, the BTR boys are not to be messed with, they're legit talented (except i'll never get over James playing grown up Bart Jr in the Lifetime versions of the Dollanganger movies)
@djjules6418 Жыл бұрын
BTR is a fascinating band to me. They were made to compete with the Jonas Brothers and we're based off the Monkees, with them originally hiring the band mates as actors instead of musicians. They had a successful show, lasting 4 seasons and a TV movie, and sold thousands to millions of copies of their music. I think the biggest mistake that Nick made with the band is not really advertising them as a band, but rather their show. As a kid, I had no idea that BTR was an actual band and not just a TV show. BTR has made a comeback now, and it's for the best. They're releasing new music under their own label (buying back the rights to all their original music) and had a huge tour last summer. They sold out Madison Square Garden, meaning they have such a determined and loyal fan base even 10 years later. I give hope to the guys and that they keep releasing new music and selling out tours. I believe we all need to live it Big Time once again.

@@tajsimms8976 if your talking about that clip with the all the female cast members of victorious, I'm pretty sure what Victoria said wasn't belittling. Liz and Ariana were already friends with each other, but Victoria and Daniella weren't really friends yet with each other or the others, so it was probably just hard to think of things to say. Ariana wasn't famous yet, so it'd be weird for Victoria to "belittle" her out of jealousy, especially since she was the main star of the show. I absolutely agree that Nickelodeon fumbled the bag! I just wanted to point out how much potential Nickelodeon had for these actors/singers. Spectacular is a really good movie when it comes to music. Nolan Gerard Funk had such a great voice and good music in that movie. Break my heart, Everything can change, and your own way. (Fun Fact) Nolan is in Miranda Cosgrove Music Video for Stay My Baby. Rags is another great Nickelodeon movie when it comes to music. I will never get that one amazing song out of my head “Put your heart in it You can go the distance Me and You against the world” Max Schneider and Keke Palmer Killed It! Drake bell is another one that had so much potential for making more music for Nickelodeon. I remember always loving his music on Drake & Josh, iCarly, and Zoey 101. Down we fall, I found a way, Hollywood girl, Makes me happy (Drake & Josh) Leave it all to me (iCARLY) and High way to nowhere (Zoey 101) In my opinion If Nickelodeon was actually down to commit to making more music and signing them to Sony Labels with these actors, I think the Top actors that would of made more money for Nick when it comes to music would be Drake Bell, Nolan Gerard Funk, Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies, Miranda Cosgrove, Max Schneider, and Keke Palmer. Who knows it would of probably beat Disney music *In another Universe*😭

You forgot about the first Nickelodeon music entity, the short-lived show "Taina" from the early 2000s. Christina Vidal, the show's star, signed with MCA records, which Nickelodeon execs didn't like because it was a "conflict of interest" for them. I assume they didnt like not making any money off of her. Not only that, her lawyer threatened the network with a lawsuit because they were abusing the child labor laws with her. Both situations caused Nickelodeon not to renew the show for a season 3 despite good ratings. Ironically, Romeo guest starred on the last episode, and Nick then gave him his own show.

I don’t think that Ariana necessarily wanted to be signed with Nickelodeon. Based on what we know about Dan Scheinder, if she had played more into his game she could’ve done a lot more. However, she comes from a family with money and connections, she just needed that initial platform that her role with Cat allowed her to have in order to fully break into the industry. Once she had that (and she arguably had the most popular character of the show), then she didn’t need to have an album with Nickelodeon. It always seemed as if she just did just enough to stay relevant, but not too much because she knew she had better chances to do the music she actually wanted to do.

To build off how you said Disney fumbled with Olivia, I would say they’re currently fumbling the bag with Sofia Carson and Michael Cimino. Sofia is one of the lead actresses from the Descendants franchise and released an album last year, yet despite having performed at Disney events in the past and being signed to Hollywood Records, they only let her perform covers, they never arranged for her to perform any of her original music on one of their stages. In Michael’s case he was the star of Love Victor and released his first song before the release of season 3 of the show. Both Sofia & Michael have decent fan followings and while the music their making isn’t chart-topping, I can’t shake this feeling that Disney in the 2000s and early 2010s would’ve gave both of them record deals by now
@tajsimms8976 Жыл бұрын
I think disney just has moved focus now. Kids aren’t really watching Disney channel now to see they’re favorite stars they use TikTok, Disney channel would promote the artist with music videos during commercials and stuff but now that disney focuses more on animation now. So having your kid’s favorite actors singing songs on the channel isn’t really profitable for Disney if your kids aren’t watching…Disney promotes their artist to promote the channel and their shows.

Regarding Disney fumbling the bag with Olivia Rodrigo... did they though? You could argue it with her HSM show stuff but her solo work? I don't think Disney would be keen on sticking their name and corporate machine behind Sour. That album kind of shatters the Disney pop star model with a sledgehammer. She isn't just sad about her breakup, she's petty, she's angry, she goes through a lot of emotions. One of her songs is literally about being 17 and hating it.

Just wanna say for you guys in the U.S. that Nickelodeon Latino also tried to make popstars like Shakira, there was a really successful series 'Grachi" about a witch and the main star Isabella Castillo is a good singer, she has talent, however Nickelodeon didn't promote her how it should've been, Nick and Warner Music made a deal to launch her as a popstar and if she was successful then they'd continue launching more stars from Nick Soap Operas. She released songs for her series Grachi just like Miranda and Victoria did with iCarly and Victorious, Grachi had 3 seasons with 3 albums, and her debut as a popstar was "Soñar No Cuesta Nada" (Dreaming Costs Nothing), when the album was released it charted on Latin Billboard and in Mexico, but just like in the U.S. with all these Nick stars, they never promoted it, never invested in it, Isabella wrote 9 out of the 11 songs, since she is from Cuba but has lived in Miami almost all her life, she wanted to debut just like Shakira did, in english and spanish, so originally she wanted to release a double album, with all the songs in both languages. She was pressured by Nickelodeon doing that album cause they just gave her like 4 months to plan it, record it and release everything. The album ended flopping and they sued her, they took advantage of her innocence on the music business, so she then had to pay everything and she had to film more soap operas on Telemundo to gain enough cash to pay them, then Warner Music forced a contract on her, they didn't let her release music for 8 years. now that that contract ended, she just made interviews this month saying that she is finally ready to release her new album. So this was the story of when Nickelodeon wanted her own Shakira but they just got her in legal trouble and ended making her lose 8 years of success..by the way Disney Latino around this time did the same, and just like in the U.S. with miley, selena, etc, her popstar achieved fame, hits and everything, her name's TINI and she was always compared with Isabella, both Grachi and Tini's soap opera which was 'Violetta' was always compared just like Victorious VS Shake it Up or idk, tini is still on hollywood records, while Isabella is maybe going for a new label or independently, Isabella had bops on her debut album as a popstar, i recommend Lagrimas and Pertenezco a Ti
