Snyder is the literal "Am I out of touch? No, it's the children who are wrong" meme. He did some ok films and for some reason, people think he is the second coming of Orson Welles but he is Uwe Boll with a budget. This man is a reason why good Netflix shows get canceled.

As well as an edge lord, in general Don’t get me wrong. I do feel bad for him for how ugly Warners Treated him during the DCEU (It was also his fault as well, but it was the studios that made it worse.) As well as the loss of his child Ultimately as a person based on interviews, he seems like a nice guy, but still I think you should find a common so we could adapt like maybe adapting sex criminals Turn that into a film for Netflix, (After all, he did sign a deal with him hence why he doesn’t do studio films anymore give it how ugly his relationship with Warner Turned out.) But don’t make him the cinematographer or the writer just be the Director who adapt shop by shot that’s it!

It's amazing to see Dune 2 and Rebel Moon 2 and their directors, both were dreaming to make those movies and even envision them since they were almost children, Dennis even made storyboards, while Zack simply had the idea (and ideas can birth scripts, but scripts can't be simply ideas). And while Dennis struggle to advance and improve his career with limited budgets and even had to battle Warner so he could do Dune and not getting the 2nd part canned, Zack was given the keys to the kingdom since the beginning and Netflix gave him money to throw for Rebel Moon, also Dennis was never showered with praise by the public, only by critics, people simply said his work was "good", while Zach has always being showered with praise by the public and shunned by the critics. Now the roles have been reversed, Dennis is a public and critical darling and Snyder is justly shunned by the public and critics. And now after the dust has settle, you can see that Dennis is aware he could made Dune 2 even better and he is trying to improve his art, Zach thinks his piece of shit is equal and above to Dune 2. One director was always hungry and fought for every inch, while the other never saw nothing else than a full plate and was given miles without deserving them.

When your interplanetary empire relies on small pre-industrial villages on otherwise uninhabited (and vastly underutilized) planets, your entire worldbuilding makes no sense. This whole thing is Harry Potter levels of self-contradictory and nonsensical. If you insist on giving your bad guys a dieselpunk aesthetic, at least go all the way and have your "farming village" be the local maintenance crew that oversees the largely automated industrial farming operation that spans most of the planet. That even gives you enough tech to set up effective traps against a full army with dropships and tanks...
@danielshore14578 ай бұрын
What would have been cooler if it was a hydroponics farm in a space station, like to me that is the only way thus would work in the setting he has created
@SKy_the_Thunder8 ай бұрын
@@danielshore1457 Would be the most realistic version, sure. But that's not always the easiest to understand for people who don't geek out over high sci-fi concepts like that. I'd be fine suspending my disbelief for something "closer to home" - like valleys filled with fields, and tons of crude arms, irrigation systems and giant shearing blades running on a network of guide rails between them, with the odd hovercraft with workers flying around and inspecting/maintaining/adjusting things. Throw in a line like "yeah it's not the most efficient way - but it doesn't take much to maintain and we have more than enough land for it out here, so... 🤷" and that would work for me.
@danielshore14578 ай бұрын
@@SKy_the_Thunder but then you have issues with scale and such like "why is this one farm so valuable to an empire that spans over ove hundreds of planets?" Or if it is a massive planetary wide farm "how are 7 people meant to completely defend this place?"
@SKy_the_Thunder8 ай бұрын
@@danielshore1457 It would be reasonable for a moon-sized farm to make up for a significant percentage of what one planet needs, or a larger military division. They could still compensate if they lost it, sure - but it would be dangerous for them to set a precedent that others might follow. If 3 or 5 more farm planets get it into their heads to rebel as well, that could be significant enough to require temporary food rationing, at least for a certain region. Far from over-selling it as a "fate of the empire" threat, but still enough of a stake that they would try their hardest to prevent it. After all, the opinion of a government can sour pretty quickly if the population is faced with shortages... As for defending: That's where all the agricultural tech would come in. You have all that heavy machinery everywhere, so it's plausible enough for them to jury rig defenses. Some may be as simple as activating the harvesting cycle for a field and literally "mowing" down soldiers. And then there's other rather easy stuff like mounting guns onto sorting arms you can control remotely, or running improvised armored weapons platforms (= a bunch of scrap metal and weapons welded onto a passenger car) along the expansive network of transport rails. The invaders could never be sure if any moving part is just part of the regular automated farm processes or yet another weapon or trap - a hit to their morale and mental state that can't be underestimated. That's all stuff the ""farmers"" could set up themselves, with just a little bit of supervision and strategic know-how, because they're the most familiar with that tech already. (Wouldn't you know it? _Just like_ in the Seven Samurai!) On a remotely even playing field the defenders always have a massive advantage. So as long as they can keep the grain hostage to not be nuked from orbit, they should be able to keep the troops busy by using guerilla tactics. Enough for the main characters to attempt their strikes at vulnerable targets.

The movie might work better if it was set just after the Empire collapsed. And the Dreadnaught was just a leftover splinter group of previous army, wandering as Marauders at the outskirts of the populated galaxy. Which would explain why they would have to bully a small farming town for food and why a single death to their commander would hurt them so much. One of the reasons why “the 7 Samurai” wasn’t set against the force of imperial Japan but a couple of armed bandits is exactly that question of “how can this small group take on a country and win long term. It would even explain why the random village in the middle of nowhere isn’t even using modern farming equipment. The collapse of the empire would cut them off from the rest of the galaxy and they don’t have other options. Heck if you want to make your MCs even more interesting, you can involve them in the fall of the galaxy spanning empire somehow and how that relates to the people they help now.😊

That's way to close to 40k's Age of Strife. I feel that this movie was suppose to be much simpler, but it become a monster due to Zack's ginormous ego. Just like the movie 'After Earth' was originally supposed to be a simple story about a father and son bonding after a bear attack.

Kind of like Jason Momoa in Fast X (I will I think Momoa in that film was a lot better but Skrein is second.)

Zack Snyder is a scavenger, always stealing bits of imagery from other movies and then haphazardly cobbling them together. Many critics have pointed out how he liberally stole imagery from "Star Wars", "Seven Samurai", steampunk, and even Warhammer 40k. In this case, the orchestra playing for the assassination was probably inspired by the musicians playing "Rains of Castamere" during the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by prior art, and some would even argue there's no such thing as truly original art. But that doesn't mean you can just grab unrelated and incompatible bits of imagery from other artists, carelessly throw it all together without any sense of cohesion, and expect the result to approach the quality of the sources. This is not like Brian DePalma remaking "Scarface". It's more like Kid Rock making that awful song where he steals the riff from Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London".

Zack Snyder is a terrible writer. The reason why Rebel Moon is so bad is not only because he wrote it but because he ignores all criticism and only listens to his close circle of friends to know if something is good or not.

The best part of the video was at 54:05 and onward. When the Earthbound music began playing it killed me, I had to rewind it multiple times because I kept laughing harder at each caption. The music just made it more hilarious somehow idk why. Otherwise, I feel sorry for Snyder, he really seems to love what he does, it's just he seems to be locked into making what looks cool visually and writing dialogue that sounds poignant and deep in thought but is not in execution. It's like he's trying to reproduce something he felt was badass when he was younger but isn't able to translate it to be something relatable to adults.
@aluthman2817 ай бұрын
After all his recent films, it's kind of unavoidable that Snyder is just kind of stupid. Also, thank you for using the correct "two-dimensional" when referring to characters with no depth. If they were one-dimensional, they would just be invisible lines. I'm not sure what that would symbolize, but it ain't "flat"

Couldn't agree more. Outstanding work, as always. If you think of it as a Seven Samurai style story in the Warhammer 40k universe written by a guy who loves Star Wars.. it almost works if you squint. Here's my suggestion for viewers of this movie: First, take a huge chunk of your life and learn everything about the world of Warhammer 40k. Then, do allllll the legwork yourself of placing this film in the 40k universe and using tons of brainpower to fill in the blanks. That's all. 😂

You could have kept it farming and given your setting unique flare by saying that farming has become hyper rare and specialized. That it turns out you can't just grow Earth-based foods everywhere and farming communities while idyllic on the surface are some of the most specialized and scientifically heavy chokepoints in the galaxy because there's only so many planets (or moons) that can grow human-edible food, meaning an empire would want them and their rebellions could lead to wider rebellion across a galaxy dependent on their food exports. I know I like to write and world build but that explanation took me as long as it took me to write this comment, which was short enough to let my food go from too hot to just right.

Snyder needs at least a couple of good writers brainstorming this plot. If he wants beautiful shots action scenes the additional writers could work them in reviewing and rereviewing it.
