Another brilliant tutorial! You've become quite adept at these and I appreciate it. I've had this plug-in for years and have rarely used it because I did not understand it. Thanks!

Thx Mike. I've had the Waves version for a few years and never truly understood it; I do now! I've always heard that it can be used just to add harmonics so I'm intrigued to hear the results on my tunes. Thx again.

Really helpful, so clearly explained, never knew that about the input colouration vs the output lack of colouration!

Another great tutorial to help demystify something which, on the face of it, looks quite simple but actually isn't. Thanks. 👍

Hi Mike, very interesting and useful video about this compressor that I must admit was a little intimidating to me. Now I can use it knowing exactly what I'm doing, haha thanks!! 🙌❤

I bought the UAD version (not native) based on another KZbin channel, but never really understood it. I just tweak the knobs until the meters bounce a little. Great explanation!!

A very informative video. I have both the Waves and the UAD versions and have used it mainly on busses. Actually it was turn this knob and then then that knob and go that's sounds ok. But you have made me now zero in and really focus on the various aspects of each knob. Thanks Mike.

Thanks for this, I can now confidently work with this compressor whereas before I just used presets because I didn’t really understand it.

Outstanding Video !!! Thank you so much, I have the Fairchilds but have not been able to get them to perform as I was wanting. You helped me tremendously with your explanation. Thank you, sir.

I have been using the Fairchild compressor effect, built in to the M32 mixer, in live situations. I have, mostly by ear, found settings I like on it for bass and acoustic guitar. This has given me a deeper understanding of the effect. I plan on using it more, the next time I'm behind the desk. thank you.

Good Vid Mike! I have just started playing around with the Fairchild plugs. loving it on the MB and Drum Buss. I love what it does. You need to do more vids of you playing guitar. I love them vids. you have a killer guitar tone.

Thanks Mike, really helpful. I've always avoided these because I couldn't make head nor tail of them - now I can (although I'd have to keep this video handy!)

Very informative - thank you for this. Love the interplay with the gain reduction and harmonic distortion. Have you ever made a content about using external effects with the Apollo x8 using Ableton? Just starting this journey!

Thanks, Mike. Very concise, useful info. I've used 3 different Fairchild plugins , each very close but some unique features on each. I agree with the comment on the beautiful female voice as I've heard you use it in many of your vids. Where can we hear the whole tune at? Great song from what i've heard so far! thanks, SC

If you place in the unison slot of the Apollo Solo, it uses all of its dsp power! It’s very CPU intensive.

Excellent video! Nice refresher course on the Fairchild! Have you done the Tube Tech CL1B yet? That's my favorite but i fill like there's things i still don't know lol.

Mike, you have a great, natural style of explaining things. I have always liked the results of a Fairchild on the Mix bus, but never used it because I didn't understand its controls compared to a regular compressor. Your video has given me the knowledge to use a Fairchild plugin now. I found the relationship between the input & threshold controls extremely helpful.

Which of the time constant settings is most used for master bus? And is the tube coloration generally helpful? Is it exciting saturation or transient tempering saturation?
