I think that dialogue was quite an important thing because it was with another black person. Sam took issue with the kid referring to him as Black Falcon because the kid and his father are calling to attention the color of Sam's skin when the whole point is to stop doing that altogether. Essentially this is Sam taking issue with the idea that referring to him as 'Black Falcon', regardless of who says it and regardless of whether you say it as a point of pride or derision, you're still calling attention to his skin color as if it matters to who he is. Honestly it seems like Sam kind of shares a similar sentiment to people like Morgan Freeman who would rather that instead of racial pride be a thing, people just learn to appreciate that stuff regardless of who they, how they look are and where they come from.

Yeah, in the 60s and 70s, when they were creating black heroes, they had to unceremoniously have Black in their names. From Black Panther, to Black Lightning, to Black Goliath (Bill Foster who was played by Laurence Fishburne in the Ant-man and Wasp movie). Though Black Goliath was eventually changed to Goliath. The Falcon, who was a sidekick but did have his name on the Captain America book, and Power Man, who eventually just started going by his name, Luke Cage, were fortunate to avoid that trend.

the point of the kid scene: a black director, is still just, a director. a black CEO, is still just, a CEO. a black president, is still just, a president. a black kid, is still just, a kid. and probably what they foreshadowed is with race being an issue of the mantle of CA: a black captain america, is still just, a captain america. he may not be 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙚 captain america but he holds the title and mantle

I find it interesting when people say they don't want to see "too much racism" on their screens. That is never applied to any other issue. Nobody said oh WandaVision is too much grief. As a black person, I can tell you that the real world counterpart to the “black falcon” comment is something many of us have dealt with before. It’s something I definitely encountered when I was younger in middle school and high school growing up with many white friends. I was always the “token black guy” and a few people would refer to me as “black Nick”. I thought it was funny at the time and it didn’t really bother me but it definitely would now. Comments like that are actually really common among young kids these days, hence the reason they probably had a young boy make the comment in the show.

We had a white boy Nick and a white boy Dave… predominantly Hispanic area. nothing but love for them though. They were definitely one of us. The white boy before their name was mainly a blood in blood out reference… and we showed us, and our culture nothing but love. They would fight anyone who put down our culture, and on our Hispanic celebration days they represented hard with the flag. No one showed them any animosity for it because we knew they did it out of love. Context is important. It wasn’t a mockery or an appropriations on their part (which I know a lot of times it is). When it came to them, despite not being Hispanic (mostly Mexicans in that area [SW Detroit] but Puerto Ricans and various others as well), everyone you this was the culture that they grew up on so it was their culture.

The point and the meaning of that Black Falcon scene was to give a Sarcastic Answer to all those who give racist remarks on the Superheroes. For instance Cap has a Black Sidekick Falcon,Tony has a Black sidekick Rhodey. So they're basically trying to show us Falcon is a very vital character himself and till the end of the show we might end up being a Falcon fan. And not just him Rhodey also. We're going to see his Journey in Armor Wars. So they're trying to show the Stereotype people have for a Black Superhero. Thats why Black Panther has a big meaning. We'll get to see Kamala Khan,Iron heart,Miles Morales,Blade,Moon Knight(Oscar Isaac)

The show is not flawed, you are just not picking up on every current polictical nuance the show is dishing out! This show is not meant to be an action comedy alone. The show is going to cover trauma, PTSD, black experience in America, family and finances. The show is speaking on a few things that get overlooked or glossed over in everyday life for veterans and people of color. Nothing too preachy though!

I think a prime example in the real world to the black Falcon moment with the kid is in sports. When people talk about quarterbacks like Brady, Brees, or Rodgers it is just quarterback. In my humble opinion, someone's understanding of something should never be based on how much they agree with you. Alternate perspectives is important. I don't take issue with how much racism is highlighted. It's the execution. It was back to back to back. For some, they might say, "Well that's how it feels in real life." Fine, I'll grant you that. For me, I could just feel the writing because it was stacked instead of spread out. For some reason, the latter two being back to back was fine for me. When you have all three in a row, I start to notice I'm watching a show and it's got a message rather than it feeling like a story I'm absorbed in.

If you paid any attention while watching any of the Marvel movies that had steve + wilson + bucky in them, you'd know exactly why bucky and falcon hate each other and yet at the same time tolerate each other and also sometimes prefer the comraderies of each other - It's having Steve as their common point. They're both very good buddies of steve, but from different eras, so they both have that "he's the new friend, i'm the old friend" feeling causing the natural tension/hatred between them. Then, there's the losing a common best friend part that causes them to connect on some level as friends. So yeah, it is absolutely not a surprise why falcon and bucky can simultaneously hate and revere each other. Also, achara's clearly got a better read on the situation based on her interpretations of it all. Jaby's just being a very annoying/ignorant contrarian, kind of a let down if i'm being honest. The scene with the kid calling wilson "black falcon" is a direct setup for special treatment given to a hero based on his race/skin color - the very next set of scenes build on that by revealing the black Captain America, who, just like steve was a Captain America (google Isaiah Marvel) , but because of his skin color was treated differently by those around him. It's like the color of the skin mattered more than the role the person played. Also, the reason why falcon, bucky or even walker for that matter didn't pursue the truck any longer was that they knew they were up against something they were not equipped to deal with - a whole band of super soldiers, boosted by the same super-serum that made Steve, Bucky and Isaiah what they are. You need the entire Avengers team to tackle a team of rogue super-soldiers. I don't think this is as hard to compute as you made it out to be in the video. I mean, if you're gonna watch these shows just for the surface level stuff, you might as well not watch them anymore Jaby. You had the same issue with WandaVision with the unwarranted nitpicking.

Remember, they haven't read some of the comics and they only have a little knowledge from the movies and the some internet theories. Plus, I think Jaby is a little use to the old formula of the MCU when some things are more straight forward. However, the MCU is adapting more and changing the formula which confuses some people. However, it's awesome that you picked up on some of these things like I did 💪 But I do understand. I sometimes get a little disappointed when I pick up things and other people don't understand it. However, I have to remember that not everyone can get things right away. Which makes us special. Regardless, despite some disagreements and similarities, I still like watching these two react

That was clear. It was the stack that threw me. It's easier to notice when the writers are doing something if it's back to back to back rather than over the course of the show. I like all of it. It's just how quick it was one to the next.
@jinxie712
@jinxie712 3 жыл бұрын
@@CinePals Guessing you mean by stack is going from Isaiah to the cops like right after. I've said in other vids that I think it was kind of a question and answer. Part of what Sam is afraid of is that they won't accept him as a black Captain America. Isaiah is a physical representation of that. Listening to his story on how they treated a black Cap (even though it was in the 50s/60s) might have gotten to him and let out in anger. The cops immediately stopping them and wanting to arrest Sam for harassing a white man, elevated the situation more. I see people ask why the cops were there. Black neighborhood in Baltimore... I'm thinking they patrol that neighborhood heavily. That's why that second cop car got there so fast. It even took Bucky saying something for them to really look at Sam to see who he was. And the cop apologized to Bucky for arresting him.
@CinePals
@CinePals 3 жыл бұрын
@@jinxie712 that part I liked actually. For some reason those two things being next to each other felt appropriate. The black Falcon meta moment immediately preceding it is what made it feel like a stack to me. It’s honestly nitpicky on my part, but just wish they had found a way to have it earlier in the episode somehow so it wasn’t right next to the other moment highlighting real world stuff. When it’s a domino effect, I notice the writing, that’s all. But maybe that’s the point.

I feel like Bucky’s statement that everything is very overwhelming for Walker is going to be key to Walker’s character going forward. I think his desire and ego to be *awesome* is going to lead to his downfall into a straight up antagonist. Lots of people have been commenting on how he was doing cool stuff and trying so hard and putting out an olive branch to Bucky and Sam...but Steve didn’t try to be Captain America. Steve just volunteered to serve in the military- Captain America happened incidentally later, and he never really wanted that. And he couldn’t do the cool stuff, he wasn’t the star, before he was made into a super soldier. In fact, the doctor who gave him that specifically *rejected* the John Walker of the group of potentials. This guy wants to be a hero, he wants to be “Captain America,” the personality. And Cap never, never would have hacked into a colleague’s tech to spy on him and follow him. That shit was what he got mad at Black Widow for doing. In short- this whole episode didn’t show me the good parts of Walker, it showed me exactly why this is going to go to his head in a way that’s going to turn him bad. I’m actually super surprised at how many people came away from this episode liking this guy.

Why can it just be a guy instead of a black guy or white guy or asian guy? Why the separation? But because we do this too often and it becomes the norm and nobody care about it anymore. But these things can really shift your assumption of a person dramatically. Like how as soon as we see a white guy, a bunch of stereotypes about white guy will pop up in our head.

Hey so here is my thought on saying that some parts they felt like buddies bickering at each-other but other parts like therapy session there was real animosity between them: I think while they are not besties, they definitely have respect for each other and care about another, BUT they really don’t see eye to eye on the shield issue. Confrontation is always hard and definitely brings up real tensions, especially when it’s about important issues. Imagine yourself getting into fight with your wife about actual important matters, in those situations you can feel real tension and be really pissed of regardless of status of the relationship. This is the same, they put that issue on the back burner while they were on the mission and they were in their neutral state of almost-friends. But in the therapy, it started out as bickering but then the real confrontation happened and that changed the tone. Sam already feels somewhat of a regret about the whole situation and having Bucky so openly blame him and calling him out like that definitely stroke a cord. I don’t believe when he said “never see each other again” he truly meant it but I believe he was PISSED. If you remember, in the last episode Bucky’s therapist saw that Sam was trying to reach out to Bucky, so he obviously does like Bucky to wanna keep in touch. Also, when Sam refused Walker to work with him, he didn’t put it in an angry manner, but you could say he MEANT it. But with Bucky, it was a lot more from the anger of that moment and that confrontation, purposefully wanting to be hurtful about it because he felt awful himself.

When they let the truck go, 1. they were probably already sore from getting hit repeatedly by multiple super soldiers, and then the two of them (because of how Sam saved Bucky) hit the ground at a really high speed, which in turn means they hit the ground with a whole lot of force, making their soreness worse. So they were at that point at least temporarily worn out to the point that they were no able to go after the trucks. At the same time, now knowing they have to deal with super soldiers, they more than likely decided not to follow in order to stop and plan out appropriate countermeasures against them.

You can hear the wobble in his voice when that 7 Eleven Captain America says to "stay the hell outta my way." Like, he knows that he's poking the lion with that line

About the sam and Bucky tension since the beginning of the MCU Bucky and Sam always seemed like they disliked each other civil war is an example of this.

In the comics I believe the power broker used mutant growth hormone to give folks super powers. Not always, but he did at one point. I wonder if Isaiah is a mutant.

Bucky and Sam don’t hate each other. They just had a best friend in common. They are pretty much just acquaintances and not friends at this moment in episode 2. The Black Falcon thing probably has to speak about how we attach race to everything even tho Sam’s race has nothing to do with the fact that he is Falcon.

Black Vulcan, Black Lightening, Black Racer, Black Eagle, Blackwing, Black Spider, Black Moriah, Black Manta: there are several black superheroes and villains with "black" in their names. I think they were making fun of this common comic-book practice in a tongue-in-cheek way.

Are they naming all the episodes after quotes/references from captain america movies? “New world order” = quote from The Winter Soldier “Star Spangled Man” = reference to the song in The First Avenger. I’m excited to see what the next episode’s title is.

So Jabby didn't understand the reference of calling falcon, Black falcon, while they were visiting the Black Captain America 🤔🤔

I know Jaby doesn't want to watch review or easter eggs videos cause he doesn't want to get spoiled, but I wish he would atleast talk to other people who he could trust not to spoil him, because he missing alot of things, not just because he isn't a comics fan and doesn't know to backstories, too much things gets over his head, and that's why we watch review videos to fill in those missing things. Marvel does a good job giving you enough, sometimes right in your face, sometimes subtly, and I admit I don't get some things but at the end it all makes sense, like with the stuff in WandaVision, every little weird thing at first, made sense at the end.

If you go back to winter soldier up to end game... u know falcon n Bucky never really liked each other. It was very obvious on civil war. They just had to put up with each other cuz they were fighting thanos

in a real world context the "black falcon" and "black kid" thing means as people who are the same race or ethnicity we shouldn't label each other like that. we may be aware of each other's race or differences but we should look pass that and acknowledge who we are and not what we are.

Love when they use subtext subversion when they use double meanings that tie in real world and fiction
