It's a shame the launch went as badly as it did instead of just waiting the relatively short time it took for the game to get into a good state. I finally let my friends convince me to give it another chance as they want to play the tabletop so we all are playing the game now and it's extremely fun. I would never have touched the game again on my own after the terrible experience I had with it at launch. Hopefully if there is a sequel, it doesn't repeat history and they just take the extra year or 2 if they need it so it can come out properly and be remembered as a must play classic instead of a botched disaster.

So glad I only got the game after PL and update 2.1 were released. It was one of the best experiences I've had, but I doubt I would've ever touched it again had I bought it on launch. I hope they've learned their lessons for Orion and don't push the hype too far again

You made the right choice playing it after all the patches. I played the game on launch day on my ps4 and got blue screened less then an hour in. I tried the game again when they released 2.0 but this time on pc and it felt like I was playing a remaster.
