A lot of firearms can have fuzzy classifications - show one guy a weapon without any documentation on it, he might call it a PDW, another guy might call it an SMG, a third guy might call it a carbine. Take the M4 carbine from today, give it to a 1950s U.S. Army armorer, and he'd likely classify it as a sub-machinegun. To him, rifles that men carried into war were the M14, which was itself a derivative of the M1 Garand that said armorer probably learned to fire as a rifleman himself back in Dubya-Dubya Two.
@TheKenji22214 жыл бұрын
@@ShadowDragon8685 Honestly I always forget the M4 is classified as a carabine and not a rifle since it shares the same ammo and barrel as the M16. But is lighter. Mess you can clean. Crippling won't go away. The shotgun to the knee still can keep your knee working to some degree. It will hurt like hell, will probably itch constantly, you'll need the braces, but it's still not the same as having no leg at all. One thing people generally don't tell you about is how hard you have to try to keep non-biological parts from causing complications. For example, that very advanced, not peg leg, but still crude mechanic leg? It uses overly complex mount and support system to allow you to get yourself through one day and still be able to do something on another. It still requires perfect hygiene, damper replacements, a lot of different salves and busy day will still get you water or even blood filled blisters that will put you out of comission for 2-3 days. And skimping on hygiene will quickly translates into festering. I hope you don't mind the smell which will probably destroy your reputation and render you repulsive to everyone. I knew a guy who took a bullet in the mouth (Grand theft auto went wrong). This made a mess of his jaw and at that kind of damage and scarring it was simply physically impossible to keep that part clean (Trust me, he tried hard. Constantly bled for that and went through mouthwash faster than a fatman goes through his coke). He couldn't get at peace with the new smell. Other couldn't too. In the end he was left alone and this led him to commiting [comment/channel removal].

the FAMAS (my favourite firearm) has been put in many games to indicate a "near future" sort of vibe, and it's been done so much now that it no longer feels all that futuristic in games. Put it in a TV show or Movie and you'll elicit the "oohs" and "awes" of the audience in how advanced it looks but gamers have become a bit desensitized to it, mainly due to its prominent use in Metal Gear Solid back on the original Playstation.
@altechelghanforever99062 жыл бұрын
Well now we got the Croatian VHS - 2. pretty good rifle and pretty futuristic as well

The Famas in Metal Gear Solid was a great choice. Not just because it's a real weapon that looks "futuristic," but also because the unique shape made it easy to recognise in low-poly Playstation graphics. I imagine that's also why Snake's using a (real-world) massive .45 pistol, because a smaller one would barely be visible at the game's resolution. It's also a neat touch that there's in-game optional dialogue about all the IRL weapons, if you call your weapons expert while they're equipped.

Jonathan, interesting historical note: the old M-16A1 rifles, when first introduced to the Vietnam conflict, had straight 20-rd magazines. I have seen combat footage of a platoon fighting VC soldiers in the jungle and one soldier would hold down the mag release button and flick the rifle. The magazine flew straight out. I haven't seen them do it with later versions because they upgraded it to 30-round curved magazines. I tried this with an AR knockoff and couldn't do it. I don't know if it's caused by the now-common use of polymer as it tends to be a bit "sticky" when you try to remove it. I honestly am not sure if you can flick the 30-round mag out if it was the old metal version.
