John Haseman served with the US Army in South Vietnam's Mekong Delta as an intelligence officer, 1967-1968, and again in the Delta as an advisor to South Vietnamese forces, 1971-1973. Later in his career, before retiring as a colonel, he served in Indonesia and Burma. When South Vietnam collapsed in 1975, he was serving in northern Thailand. In this excerpt from a broader discussion, he shares memories of that time.
