That's very impressive. The vocabulary is quite advanced. I wonder how many adults in the USA could understand all of the language. I read it circa 1975 or '76, when I was maybe 8 years old. I didn't understand many of the words, but I found it compelling.

Everyone should have read it at least three times before listening to the audiobook. However good interpretation may it be, it never ever paints the picture on the canvas of imagination, as unique perspective of the reader's personal emotions shaped by one's life experience would. I think so far it's done a good job of staying true to the poem while also having its own spin on things. I do agree I hate remakes and such, but some of them are okay. This being one.
@Soup_of_goop Жыл бұрын
I actually really like the execution of the Netflix series. It takes ideas from many of Poe's works and wraps them together into this larger story. I personally am not super familiar with Poe's poems except for a couple I read in school. But from what I know almost every major character is named after someone from Poe's stories, and if you know the works going in you could see their fates coming and how they've been changed to fit this setting.
@Ali-po9le Жыл бұрын
@Soup_of_goop so much from his works were intertwined with the story, the poem Annabelle Lee, lenore dying young. That murders of rue morgue, the black cat, obviously the raven lol. The tell tale heart. Soooo many stories I absolutely loved it. Even the jester is in one of his poems. Perry's name and his whole story. The name of their mom is poes actual moms name the cats name was Pluto, and that was poes cats real name. Arthur pyms expedition... like everything in that whole show was somehow connected to either poe or his works.
@mamawray7 ай бұрын
Never cared for this tale. I like most of Poe's work but this story is all tone, flat characters and almost no plot. Dull by comparison with Hop-Frog, Mask of the Red Death, Pit and the Pendulum, The Black Cat, Cask of Amontillado and Tell-Tale Heart. I appreciate this recording, because I needed to "re-read" the text (I've read it several times over the years) and I don't think I could have forced myself to actually read it yet again.
