Sebastian Shaw manufactured the Sentinels for the US government, Mystique and Destiny initiated Days of Future Past (by assassinating Moira which is a ridiculous plot hole now), Sinister and Sabretooth committed the Mutant Massacre, Sinister and Styfe unleashed the Legacy Virus, Legion caused Age of Apocalypse, Xavier unleashed Onslaught, Sinister de-powered all mutants, Cassandra Nova committed the Genoshan genocide, Selene responsible for Necrosha, Bishop killed countless mutants during Messiah Trilogy and Apocalypse has slaughtered countless mutants over millenia. Even Wanda was considered a mutant during House of M. Modern Marvel creators seem obvious to all Marvel continuity when they push this absurd narrative. Between this and countless plotholes- editorial incompetence on a level I didn't imagine possible.

I was rooting for the sentinels so in a weird way this is wish fulfillment. Characters like Kitty and Xavier have crimes to answer for, which is a sentence I wouldn't have thought to write four years ago. Moira is indeed a machine now. Long story, involves her skinning Banshee and wearing him because apparently Marvel goes the extra mile when doing a character assassination. Also, Magneto is not with the X-Men. He is dead. Earlier he had removed hos brain from the Cerebro memory banks, so they can't revive him that way. He had his heart torn out, but kept himself alive...with...magnetism, I guess? Until his strength gave out. He died seeing his human daughter (actually a Celestial that was judging the souls of humanity) and was quite happy. Well written bit in a very silly story. Lost me as soon as it judged Captain America unworthy. Dude can pick up Thor's hammer. He's incredibly worthy.

In the original Avengers vs X-men (1987) Magneto had telepathic powers- and he was humbled because he couldn't detect even the slightest trace of bigotry in Captain America! He wrongly assumed that all humans hated and feared mutants to some degree. Cap has done more for mutants than any character in Marvel history (mutants included). He literally saved Cyclops and co from neo-nazi groups and was the sole superhero opposing the anti-mutant government policies. Ignorant modern Marvel writers/editors have no idea what they're doing

Old fans had accepted change, diversity and politics for decades (particularly with X-men). Those stories sold millions and new fans got welcomed abroad every generation for 75 years. Until now. What changed is modern Marvel killed them because they hired incompetent clowns who have no grasp of the continuity or characterisation. Every character is written wrong. Every story has universe destroying and embarrassing plot holes. The new "fans" are the most ignorant and intolerant fake fans in history. Only fake fans who've never read a Marvel comic in their life before the movies could possibly like this unconnected gibberish. Lee/Kirby/Ditko/Romita and co built something amazing, that stood the test of time, that changed with the times and brought joy to people all over the world for generations. Comics have survived world wars, depressions, political witch hunts, speculator crashes and bankruptcy- until you guys turned up? Hickman's start to this was genuinely interesting and forcefully compelling, redefining the status quo in a way I hadn't seen since Morrison. But when Hickman left because they wanted to drag out the Krakoan first act to unbearable lengths, it clearly lost all luster, which is really unfortunate since I understand it was only like part 1 of 3 in Hickman's bigger picture. To me, this does't pay off the last 4 years at all, it only underscores all the time that's been wasted dragging out this Krakoan period far longer than it was ever intended. But leave it to Marvel to milk something until it's shadow of it's former self.

The shit writing in X-Men prompted me to pull the plug on collecting comics after 38 years. I bought them for the stories, rather than collecting value, and after I realized I had over a year's worth piled up unread, I knew it was time to call it quits. I wish I could believe the X-Men would get good again, but I just don't trust Marvel. Maybe I'm wrong - I'd like to be wrong. Time will tell.

Except if we go with broad fan appreciation I have always felt that most people see the X-Men as a good representation of what marginalized groups that are targeted by bigotry can be (up until the modern progressive era and the Krakoa shit anyway) but that the Inhumans are somehow worse since they basically get to choose whether to turn their powers on or not. And because they live in a city on the moon and for the longest time gave zero fucks what happened to the Earth. With Krakoa it almost feels like they tried to mirror that with the Mutants, they got their own little clubhouse, from where they could dictate terms to the rest of the planet without ever having to get involved in anything if they didn't want to. It's also worse than that, unless they have decided to change lore and add some sort of stupid exception, they are also lying to that girl when they tell her that cock and bull story about her being a secret mutant. You can't get Inhuman powers while possessing the mutant gene, if you try, the process kills you horribly. It's literally why the mutants got so pissy with the Inhumans dousing the planet in Terrigen Mists that one time.

I've been skeptical of this entire run without Hickman. The other writers knowing what he planned is not the same as Hickman writing it himself. So I'll always wonder what could have been.

The two things that basically made me loathe the comics was basically first of all him kicking Franklin Richards off the island while allowing Sinister to stay (Again cementing that it was never about who was a "real" mutant but always about who he considered to be "useful") and second how he then started to flex the rules like with Cap. Regardless of how overall good this story is supposed to be it pisses me off that they came up with this way of bringing KK back as a "mutant", she's almost certainly just an inhuman that they brought back to serve as their mascot because she was popular with the regular humans. Charles has gone from a paragon of understanding to a twisted cynical shell of a broken man that managed to delude himself into thinking he was a god, and since Magneto is supposed to be gone for good we can pretty much expect that he'll only get worse.

They just repeated the "mutant utopia destroyed mass genocide" plot again. Making it fancy and adding a few non-Xmen villains to the mix (A.I.M. normally aren't fighting or conflicting with the XMen) Frankly I saw this coming since the start, as let's face it, they were moving too far away from the main point of the XMEN so a "Diablo Retcon" was inevitable to try and get them back on track again. So how long before we get another "Genosha" arc like Kakoa again since they've shown they'll "repackage" old arcs and act like it's a new "fresh idea"..... when it's not!

Honestly, I'm a little torn on this...on the one hand, I actually dislike it when comic stories where someone actually doing something constructive and productive in the long term-despite how much of a good story, good drama, or simply inevitable it is when dealing with a continuing series that is never actually intended to come to an endpoint, or fundamentally change it's form-gets everything hopelessly dashed, crushed, and ground down by smirking, irresistible monsters back into the status quo or worse. Usually worse. On the other hand...yeah, these _particular_ characters, admirable logistical train management or not, _were_ unlikable pricks, not written especially well, and with questionable fashion choices, and in a story that had evidently long outstayed it's welcome. So I'm not shedding an incredibly large amount of tears. It'd probably be a better story-or at least one that'd be more mean-spiritedly enjoyable-if the Krakoans' downfall had been explicitly their own fault; infighting turning to schism, turning to open conflict between overwrought groups of decadent fantatics, the grand experiment eating itself alive, the tragedy of greatness lost by the inherent vice deep in it's bones, "Don't let it be forgot/That once there was a spot/For one brief shining moment that was known/As Camelot"... Or maybe it's just sufficient that it's over. "It's an ending, that's enough."

It brought me back as it did many others and was incredible... and then it all became a miserable failure. I also blame Hickman for some of this, not just the doofus squad, his ideas for the rest of the storyline weren't nearly as good as the setup he established in the miniseries. I quit again after that mediocre X of Swords event and I'm glad I did.

Stark's tech is stolen so much it LEGIT doesn't make sense. Also Orchis is involved in all the world governments and groups like SHIELD, SWORD, AIM, etc. Moira betrayed them because of Mystique found out of her no wanting to revive Destiny. So they got to Forge make him make a "depower gun" use it on Moria and then infect her arm with some virus. She cuts off her arm, some wild shit happen yet at that point she hates the X-Men. Yet all the X-Men's problems are really Mystique and Destiny's fault.

So Forge and Destiny and Mystique work together to remove her power's forever. Then Charles Xavier betrays her. Then decide because She was a mutant that became human, it's OK for mystique To hunt her down and kill her. They also put a virus in thats killing, her. They have a barbecue to Celebrate her death I kid you not. Legion apparently doesn't give a f***.. But basically She found a way to make her self into a Super Sentinel Even more powerful than Nimrod.. Which kind of buggers the question how rogue could just destroy her. Anyway, it doesn't matter, she's made of nanites and she's got lots of backup bodies. It is absolutely the dumbest story ever Created.. The one concept I like about it is She's like I saved you hundreds of times I'm practically the mother of your race so I brought you into the world I'm gonna take you out... 😂 The one thing I really hated is the X. Men basically treated her like s***. The woman has saved thier lives countless times. And they celebrate her death with a f****** barbecue... So to make it o k, they make her into a much much worse villain... But, yeah, she's a credible threat since she actually is 1 person in the world. Who could with science wipe out the entire race.
