This movie is worth watching, very realistic and I guess a true to life story of some missionaries and religious affiliates. So sad that these elders, parents who belong to these congregations are so obsessed in their beliefs that they forget that humans have feelings that are free to live and love and not to be mandated by the teachings of their religion. This is so moving and I wish there will be a sequel to watch soon 🙏

An utterly brilliant film. Very well shot; great editing; excellent script; and, of course, truthful and moving acting. You can only admire the courage and strength of character of RJ. What a mensch! It’s also a commentary on the silliness of sending out young men on a mission who know nothing of life. The veteran is right: they need to live and find themselves. The they might eb able to share the gospel with life-truth rather than just head knowledge. Look forward to finding part 2 here.

I love this movie, as a gay ex-missionary I identify with the situation (not the drugs or the sex tho lol) Having to pretend to be someone I was not just to feel like I belonged was killing my soul. I loved the experience but that life was just not for me. Lots of tears led me to where I am now and I have finally accepted myself as a whole.

For me as a former LDS this situation is common among missionaries. I had that experience, but I controlled myself, because I knew the consequences. I didn't have much to lose, but to my american companions, they have lots to lose. It is a hard reality of the "inside the closet elder." It is a topic that is swept under the carpet and to be avoided to all cost. Good movie.

Good for you RJ. don't be sorry for the love and companionship who enters in your life. Life is so short the Lord said to love and care for each other, there's no book on love only experience within the heart. It's a shame that the church puts such negative feelings onto same sex and their they are the biggest violators.

A simple move. Unfortunately, the Mormons will not except gay people, and these devoted, clean, loving men and women end up quite isolated and alone. However, with time they can integrate into different communities and find acceptance. I’ve known a few.. Canadian Mennonites experience, a similar dilemma, as do Jehovah’s Witness.
@BillPritchard4 ай бұрын
We live in a world of religions. Religions with rules. When those rules exclude someone because of who they are, that religion and its god become limited. As a person of faith in Christ, who was himself excluded, I had to step away from ministry in a religion and lean on the only things I had; my family/friends and my faith in Christ. The Jesus I serve *loves all!* (Full Stop) Matthew 11:28 says “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." There is no sentence after that, that says, but you have to be this and can't be that. It's just an invitation from a loving God. Sometime I think people feel if they devote time, money, and life to their 'religion', they will be sin-free and saved. Romans 10:9 says, ". . . if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There are no hoops to jump through. No rules. Just confession. As a gay man, I too am on a journey. I choose Christ to partner with on that journey. Am I perfect? No. Am I sin-less. No. This is why He paid the price for me. He's got me covered; not by any work, rule, or action I could take. For all those on a similar journey. . . *I promise you, it does get better and can be in communion with Christ, if you allow it!*
