Why Do I Feel That in my Body? Explanations of Bodily Symptoms Due to Anxiety, Stress and Panic
www.paigepradko.com/bodyanxiety
Health anxiety, panic, and anxiety in general trick you into believing that something is very wrong and even life threatening. There is always an immediacy to it.
The fear convinces you to behave and think in ways that reinforce this fear cycle. You reinforce the fear and anxiety by having fearful thoughts, trying to calm yourself and behave in ways that you believe will keep you safe. You then create more vigilance, awareness, and sensitivity to what you are experiencing internally.
Overtime, your fear response and the very symptoms that scare you get wired or associated in the brain, and now when you experience one, you automatically experience the other. If you are afraid of heart movements or breathing changes, the brain can even trigger a panic attack when it notices normal changes when you are fast asleep. Those are called nocturnal panic attacks. That’s how powerful these associations can become.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. You don’t have to live like that. These conditions are treatable. There are techniques to reverse this process and retrain your brain to not associate those bodily sensations with your fear response. Go to my site, paigepradko.com and I have loads of free resources to help you along with specialized courses for deeper levels of help for health anxiety and panic disorder.
Stop letting anxiety trick you. Health anxiety and panic disorder trick you into doing the exact opposite of what you need to do to get better.
It can feel overwhelming to face this on your own. You are not defective or too weak to recover. These conditions are very treatable no longer how long you have experienced these conditions if you know what to do.
Reach out to me at 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 paigepradko.com if I can be of help to you. And signup there for my weekly newsletter where I share weekly help for anxiety and OCD.
Until next time, I will see you in session,

It’s so bad that I am afraid to even go to other videos fearing being triggered. I live in constant fear everyday. I had a heart attack 4 years ago and any chest discomfort triggers me.

Hi Mark. I replied to you through email. Perhaps my suggestions felt overwhelming. I understand your fear and if there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know. I have worked with a lot of people following cardiac events. Even though you may have a clean bill of health, the brain still believes that you are in danger. Recovery involves changing the way you respond. You can do this work gradually, Mark. Feel free to correspond with me if you have any questions.

Once you spot the original idea of danger, panics can be stopped. As a bipolar patient, I 've had to rigorously learn to identify fears behind my panic attacks. I 've learned that panic sensations and thoughts are distressing but not dangerous. I sit with my feelings and sensations but don't act on them. I let my mind rattle but do not move. Soon my sensations return to a sense of security. Hebb's Law is right. And you, Paige, inform us like the most informed therapist you are. Thank you so very much for your help.

This was incredibly helpful. I struggle with health anxiety every day. For example I had simple low blood sugar this morning and I knew this but instead my brain panicked and I’ve been in a full body anxiety loop with the same symptoms for an hour. The video was a great look into why this happens and even knowing this can help slow it so Thankyou so much!

I have a heart valve malformation that will need surgery in the future but all is well right now. Now I see the pulse in my neck cardiologist check with several test and said not to worry. My mother also has the same thing. But, I cant stop checking it and get really anxious and will even say depressed.
@PaigePradkoTherapy

I am sorry that you are experiencing that, Marisol. It sounds like you have done all that you can do for now. And, your doctors will monitor it at recommended intervals. You have to decide if you want to live your life monitoring it daily and worrying about it unnecessarily. Or if you want to live your life to the fullest without constant worry. If the latter is the answer, you have to make a decision to stop checking and stop researching.

I have health anxiety because I'm always dizzy I'd say 80% of the time I feel dizzy, have headaches and just feel sick. Like I'm coming down with something. Is this normal for someone with severe anxiety?

I very much appreciate your excellent, clearly explained videos. The one you made on Cardiophobia very much chimed with me. Only one minor criticism…I think your videos would be better if kept simple and not “jazzed-up” with cut-aways, gimmicky edits and pop-up lettering. There really is no need, because your basic, comforting method is just perfect.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14: 1-4
