I think that the whole "here's a part of me" thing they did, is without a doubt the best possible route. Not letting us use Arceus would leave an incomplete feeling to the game, but just letting us throw a Pokéball at it, even if a special one, would end the whole myth around it. This way it works perfectly!

im still kind of unsure if that’s what the “part of arceus” is referring to. you’re given the legend plate at the same time as receiving arceus, there’s some ambiguity there. it’s fair to say the one you receive and the one you speak with throughout the game are different, but there’s still the possibility it’s the same one, just appearing in different ways

@@leftygurl Yes, when I first read it, I was under the same impression. The part of itself in question could in fact be refering to the Legend Plate, but Arceus definitely has multi-location abilities. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that there are always multiple Arceus running around at the same time. Arceus just might be able to materialize one or more avatars at will and then dematerialize them when it doesn't feel inclined to interact with the world.

The whole “catching legendary deities” thing also gets addressed within Legends itself, when you speak to Cognita after catching Enamorus, she brings up that they are willingly joining you, and will leave of their own volition once the player character passes. Of course, we have the metacontextual power of a grandpa that exists beyond space and time, but in-universe our player character is not immortal.

I think this is a very genius decision. It allows Arceus to be obtainable without it's godly status being put into question. We've just been using parts of Arceus and not the Alpha Pokemon itself. I definitely don't think this is a retcon since it feels more like expanding on what little information we already had.

Here’s a fun fact: during the arceus fight the attacks that it uses references every noble Pokémon fight before it. starting of with Lilligant, with the ground blasts Electrode’s timed detonation attacks. Avalugg’s semi homing shot. After that a unique attack somewhat resembling a reverse version of Electrode’s self-destruct or maybe primal dialga/palkia (I wasn’t paying nearly enough attention to how the attacks looked during that fight). Kleavor’s dash is used, and lastly Arcanine’s interruptible charge attack. All together this is a great way of solidifying that the nobles all have an extension of Arceus’ power.

Yeah good take :D I feel like the Arceus made of light in the opening is unlikely to be the full form though because of the ring around it. I think the Ring signifies a restraint oh power. I imagine the true arcues (the orginal one) to look even more like the bata sprite. Unfortunately I think this form is unobtainable. You would need to re combine, Dialga, Palkia and Giritina in their origin forms with the Arceus plates and any other parts of itself that are out there to view it.

The text from the Hiker's dialogue in Canalave Library seems to suggest that the Original One is the title used for Arceus' physical self, its avatar, while the Original Spirit is the title used for its non-physical self, the spirit of all things, which is revealed to be its light form from Legends Arceus. ----------------------------------‐------‐--------‐---------------- I more so think that the ring on Arceus represents the part of itself that is spirit. It is a dharmachakra, which animates the world and all souls, but drives souls towards pure spirit, which is the fundamental unity of all things. The Creation Trio, in Origin Forme, have similar rings around themselves called bhavachakras which keep souls tethered to the physical world and away from unity in separate, individualized forms. For this reason, I don't think the ring will break to reveal something more powerful since the light version of Arceus would be it if that were the case, and in that form, it still has the ring on. You probably got the idea from Type:Null breaking its helmet, which is modelled after Arceus' ring, to become Silvally. However, Arceus does not need to break its ring in order to use its Multitype ability while Type:Null has to in order to use its RKS System. It's probably something peculiar about Type:Null and does not hint at Arceus having to do the same. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe that if the Creation Trio, the Lake Guardians and the plates were to return to Arceus, the universe and all the souls in them would cease to exist and only the Original Spirit would remain. To be more exact, we would all become one with the Original Spirit and become it. We would all share the same perspective through Arceus' mind. Essentially, we would have reached the Omega Point.

Judging from how Arceus appears in the games, it's more like that the Arceus in Legends is merely just a mortal mirror apparition of him. It would explain why he allowed himself to be captured, can be fainted, etc. I think the real Arceus is the one we meet in the intro to Legends Arceus. A being so powerful that we can't comprehend, so all we see is a shining light

I like to think of the parts of Arceus as Avatars similar to Darkseid from DC Comics. The avatars aren't the true versions of both characters.

That's exactly it. Another being like that is the Living Tribunal from Marvel in which we only see a sliver of its true form. It never leaves its dimension but can create avatars and appear in multiple, alternate universes at once. Light Arceus is like the One Above All, and physical and dream Arceus are more like the Living Tribunal, but in this case, they all host the same mind, and that single mind speaks through its representations, which are localized in different realms.

I tend to think that Arceus is splitting off some percentage of itself it allows that percentage to be captured by the player. So the player actually is capturing arceus, but not the entire Arceus.

Based on how nearly everybody in the games mentions the controls, but usually people of importance, I have a feeling most Pokémon characters know about the nature of their world to some extent, but, as their world is one of peace, where humans have learned their lesson to a greater extent, they don’t really care that much. A part of it would imply it's limited. I still wouldn't refer to it as a god in the way the average Pokemon fan does. They tend to treat him like some omnipotent bible level god. When at best, he seems to be similar to the way people think of myhtological deities like Zeus or Odin.

The existence of bunrei/divided spirits in Shinto (alongside Vedic traditions that slid over to Japan) makes that something you can't exactly say with confidence. Ritualistically splitting a god can just as much create a new one as it does just let the first shrine exist in two places, so it is entirely possible for "normal" Arceus to range from being "regular" Pokemon in the shape of itself to basically just Arceus multitasking and just... doing less on a second monitor. Hell, we probably won't ever know what all "actual" Arceus can do since Volo and Giratina were at its doorstep metaphorically flinging bags of shit over its lawn and it just threw some teenager at them... just like how it threw a DIFFERENT guy at Giratina when it was doing its angsty rebel nonsense in the past.

it never made sense to me, arceus, girantina, palgia and dalgia should be colosasus, towering over the planets, yet it made zero sense to me how they suposedly made the worlds and space, yet they are like a couple of meters tall, and dont get me started on how we the player can basicaly subjicate this suposed gods in a pokeball

i think we should have lengendary pokemon but i think it should just be one and you can't port it to another trainer it permanently bonded to THAT trainer that caught it. like once red catch's mewtwo its now only red's and cannot be traded or used outside of npc battles. or my favorite solution is you get ONE and no other just like starters. so you are forced to make your pick wisely.

Has Arceus ever face a different dimension of Arceus in Pokémon, and I hardly see Arceus vs the different version of Arceus from a different universe. A danger is whatever Arceus do, the Arceus of a different dimension has a move defy Grace which Arceus has a move Creator Grace and why does it not appear in Pokémon Go, the different dimension Arceus that is different in look from Arceus,
