In 2013 when I was getting ready to go into the hospital for cancer surgery, I made my kids watch this episode. All they could say was "I didn't know Nana had a tv show". This episode was a reenactment of every time my mother visited someone in the hospital. Makes me roar with laughter.

I wouldn't jump out the window, but I'd call the nurse, security, ban them from coming back.🤣. No they would be the last ones I'd want to see before surgery. Sad thing is we all them in our families.when they visit I don't answer the door or the phone. If someone let them in, I go to my bedroom and 🔒 lock the door, pretend I'm sleeping. Till they leave. I love them from a distance. Some are a pain in my backside. This episode is halarious. We see why he told the Dr he didn't want to see them. He knew. Yep you know your family, friends and loved ones.😂. Classic episode. I have learned to ignore the idiots in my family. Oh I love them. I don't have to see them.😞🤦😁.🙂👋✌️🖖🦋🌻🌠🌌. VJ.

Mr Smothers looked so cute in that hospital bed . Those shifty eyes and his looks of dismay at his crazy familys remarks were perfect . Vicki Lawrence was always the most well disciplined actor on the show. She was so great on Mamas Family later on . It saddens me to think of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman both being gone now . Carol Burnette Show and Mamas Family will always be two of my all time favorite tv shows .

My mother was a very unhappy person rarely laughed or smiled but as a little kid I could hear her laughing hysterically while watching Carol Burnett Show. I wanted to get up and watch what made her laugh.

This skit reminds of my brother law and sister in the hospital room when my Dad passed away. He had not passed away 20 minutes when suggestions about what belonged to who were brought up. Fortunately my younger brother had arranged for the fair distribution of assets through his lawyers before my Dad had passed, I have since these past 10 years never contacted her nor she me. True colours come out when money is involved.

Worked in life insurance. Never saw how quick people smelled blood when death was near, and the lengths they will go when money is involved. When my grandmother passed, I mourned, paid my respects, and went right back home (lived out of state) as quick as possible for this very reason. She wasn’t gone a week when the rumblings of who got what money, jewelry, furniture, etc. started happening - clear indicators I needed to get the hell out of dodge.

This is the version of Mama that I love the best. Other than the name and the costume, this Mama and the Mama character that Vickie Lawrence played in Mama's Family, particularly in the syndicated version, were nothing alike. They were completely different.

I tried to make myself watch "Mama's Family," but once you know the character from the CB Show, you are right...nothing alike, and she was way to nice on MF. The other characters were also plain dumb and unbelievable. I remember reading that Harvey Korma was director of the show and felt Mama was too mean so he toned her down. Bad decision.
