Mom trying to hurry out the door to go to work, little one at "me do it" stage put on his own shoes, mom looks down and exasperated says "your shoes are on the wrong feet!" Little one says, "these are the only feet I have". LOL One of my favorites.

My future husband recently introduced me to your amazing family! I am trying to catch all of your past blog vidoes!! I can't get enough of y'alls knowledge and passion for owning and running your own farm and homestead! I feel like I know your family, because of how detailed and educational each video entails. I was born and raised in Fayetteville North Carolina, yet lived in Las Vegas for 11 years most of my 20s. At 43, I am pregnant with my first child, a daughter, and me and my future husband plan on buying land somewhere in the middle of North Carolina, and basically live off the land like y'all do. We hope to join homesteaders of America, and one day meet y'all and the families that have been so generous in helping your family become so successful in all your endeavors!! Thank you for sharing your lives with the world, for it has changed my life, and inspired me to become a devoted family woman and change my life for the better! God bless your whole family, and looking forward to seeing more videos of each passing milestone and life changing event!!

When I was a very young girl, I remember the entire extended family getting together for hog butchering. My favorite part was the sausage. It was ground into a large tub, spiced, and then mom and the aunts would fry enough for dinner for everyone. Such fond memories.

So very happy for you that it was a good pig! We had only 1 bad pig in the 42 years I've been on the farm and it was raised by someone else. Learned a lesson there. Annually, feeding 10 people from our farm, we will grind at least one whole pig into sausage. It's always worth it. hugs from here!

WOW! I am so happy for you guys and the thrill of it all as well as the satisfaction that will last through much of next year. Actually I an glad and jealous at the same time. I enjoyed the youngest boy always seeming to be there the most to help his dad. The setting of the processing in your barn is quite exquisite something old timey and family friendly about it. I see all the work that Ben et al put into the bench, sink, cutting board and your snack/coffee center, the outside wall with the gaps in the boards and I can only imagine creaky floors. Very, Very picturesque! You are blessed beyond words and your decision wise to leave these parts and end up there. Something that you both one day can rock in your chairs on the porch and reminisce about and share with the grandkids. May God continue to bless all of you richly!.

If you dont want to pickle the feet, you can skin and boild them, they will give you the most amazing gelatin base you can get from a pig. Here in germany pickled pig feet are not common at all, but "spitzbein" / pig-feet we can buy and boil them for gelatin for all our jelly needs or a VERY gelatinous broth for soups. Amazing video as always and i love seeing the whole familly doing this together.
