These elevators are just amazing, not just amazing, but WOWmazing. @DieselDucy, those secret floors are well discovered as well, well 23 isn't really secret because it's a restroom floor, 24 is definitely secret because it's a kitchen. Still, these elevators are so memorable.

All these John Portman elevators are just so special. My first ones were the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles as a little kid. My parents has quite the battle getting me out of those as a kid. The Hyatt Regency San Francisco was also on that same vacation. I know I drove my parents crazy, lol.

I filmed these back in July of 2019 right after they first got key carded. that one that goes to the “secret” floors was, I guess, unlocked, so I got to go up to those floors.

I lived in Atlanta in the 80s and when I was bored I would ride the train or this elevator, just for kicks. I’ve logged a lot of time in those things!

These possibly had Series 1 fixtures when the hotel was first built. Then they were modded at some point in the 2000s with Epco fixtures by the look of it.

The Kaden Tower in Louisville is always closed on weekends (other than Ruth Chris Steakhouse on the top floor, which is open only a few hours each day), but it’s open during the week. I’m afraid to go in there during the week.

For an instant I thought this was in San Francisco because those two buildings on either side of the middle one - they reminded me of books stacked together as a kid - look just like a pair of buildings in SF and they are near the Hyatt. The elevator does go into a cubby hole but it terminates in the cubby hole. That is where the revolving restaurant is. In the Towering Inferno, the glass elevators emerge from inside the building and continue going up to the top which is over a hundred floors. I have to wonder if they used footage from this location. That movie was filmed in San Francisco at various locations. I see that though they look the exterior is same as from when they were installed but with the inside cab totally redone. That was also the case when I visited San Francisco in 1998.
