I've been learning for a few months now and starting to actually make bags. These tips are wonderful, especially because I like to reverse engineer stuff I see at stores and modify them. Adding different techniques like this is perfect. Thanks for your wonderfully helpful videos.

This method is what I shall use in some leather utility bags I am making. I enjoy the rolled edge look rather than the original slot method I chose earlier.

Hey man, I quit biting my nails here recently. All I had to do was just tell myself that cravings of any kind only last 5 minutes. I was still tempted for a week or two, but that first night was the only difficult part. Your nailbed can totally regrow. I used to have almost no nail on my pinkies but now they're all nice and normal.

I like sewing zippers on my machine in fabric, just dipping my toes in the water with leather now and I can't wait till I can attempt bags with this style in leather. Edit: Hand stitching of course, not machine. I actually do my fabric zippers, (packs and sling bags), very similar to these as far as the top side. Except they get sewed before the folds then again as a top stich. But they look very much the same. (I realize the method I use is not necessary or practical in leather). Yours is a very pretty method for sure. I'm also playing around with "zipper garages". I'd like to see something classy like that in leather just because. Great tutorials BTW, I probably spend 2 hours a day watching your, and others, videos when I should be on my Sailrite actually working. 😅😇

Just double check to make sure the mat has accurate lines. A cutting mat I've been using for years I just recently realized isn't accurate throughout the length of the mat. Luckily I didn't use them for any critical cutting but it would've definitely caused a problem if I did.

You can make the leather meet in the middle to make the zipper hidden ^_~
@elconquistador9322 жыл бұрын
I've done that in fabric on some of my packs/ sling bags. I think that would look really slick with leather, you could ditch the metallic zipper pull and make a leather pull. This way it would fit cleaner and produce far less wear. Good idea 👍🏽
