So is no one going to call a spade a spade. The definition of racism is “having prejudice against a group based on stigma or physical characteristics” so why does everyone pick and choose which races you can be racist towards? I’ve been bullied for my skin tone by people of colour.. yet I’ve never once made fun of someone for being born with dark skin. If you replace the word white with black in all the shit she was saying she would never have a platform again. The hypocrisy is crazy on the internet.

Boiling things down to a digestible and cohesive argument and debate is something that needs to happen, not just for 'white people'. Girl went too hard and let her emotions run. She woulda hit a wider audience if she didn't drag on the way she does. Fr one of those scenarios the teacher asks for a paragraph and she delivers an additional 6 pages repeating one paragraph seven ways. Coulda made a proper argument if she put her ego aside but lost half her audience attention half way through.

@@katietree4949 EDIT: I am addressing the first part of this persons comment, as they edited it late :/ adding this for transparency so my point doesn’t get lost/skewed further I don’t think you understand the point I’m trying to make. For too long people of color have had to talk about their struggles in a way that protect white peoples feelings and peace. It’s just a fact. In the States so many of them spend a majority of their lives trying to make themselves palatable- especially when concerning white fragility. I am literally white and understand that. While yes, obviously discussions should be cohesive and understandable, it’s back-handed and out of touch to expect to be spoon fed each and every time - especially when it’s about the same issues that aren’t new. They shouldn’t have to do that in order to be heard or seen, equality/equity is not transactional. So when I say not everything needs to be digestible/watered down, it’s not me saying “yea use vile ostracizing language and belittle others” - I’m talking about the topics at hand. The reality of our world is not comfortable, and it shouldn’t be.

Ehh idk yall… I was with you until that last little bit. I’m still halfway through so the only comparison I’ve seen thus far is herself to Alix Earle. Point blank she’s a beauty content creator. They ALL get paid more. I’d find it for compelling if she could find a BLACK BEAUTY CONTENT CREATOR, with as many followers, platforms, engagement, likes, same exact brand deals, watch time, etc that gets paid less than alix. Blatantly. And even then it can’t really be spoken to power to the truest degree until we know way way way more details than we will ever know. Who is their manager, who touches and speaks up for them. Who is accepting the money in this hypothetical creators place? Are they speaking up for themselves and advocating and demanding the same amount of money Alix makes from the same brand. And did they expressly reject the hypothetical POC creators demands? We will never know those details though. It’s just disingenuous and bad faith to pull someone out of thin air in an entirely different realm in general. Like 20k for a brand deal is a fuck ton of money. I’d be just as disingenuous to say I could probably find several white creators that ARE in her realm, that went from obese to thin, that are funny and talk shit and all the things she does in HER realm that get paid less than her. But I still bet we could 😂 and I bet we could find the opposite too. But she didn’t go there. She went for one of the TOP EVER EVER creators on TikTok lol. Idk it jidt feels icky to me. The same way the gender pay gap argument can be disintegrated by the same logical line here. They’re not accounting for so many things when they claim women are paid less than men. And it’s very much already been debunked. I just need more info first to get behind that. Personally. Nobody cares what I’m saying, I know, but damn does it feel better to get it off my chest anyway 😂

Okay so….this is a lot lol I’m a black woman, neurodivergent, 24, queer, I don’t know how I would be perceived by the average person, but I’m definitely plus size. I’ve been bigger, I’ve been a little smaller than I am now, I’m dark skinned, and I’m definitely not a quiet person, but I can read a room as well. Being in the south, I’ve had several negative experiences with white people, even when I was a small child. I developed quicker, and therefore, was a victim of overt adultification since age 12. I get what she thinks she’s doing, I really do, but this ain’t it. Something I’ve had to learn the hard way, was how to toe certain lines in life. Like the line between standing up for yourself, and attacking indiscriminately. It’s still hard, and sometimes I lash out at people who don’t deserve it, because I really do get her anger, but you have to direct it. As a sociologist, I’ve learned that there is no use in attacking individuals acting within a system, with exceptions. It’s not necessarily anyone’s fault that they were born a certain way, or in a certain body. Life is a huge gamble. I also don’t like how she completely ignores any sort of intersectionality when it doesn’t apply to her, which feels disingenuous. It isn’t productive to turn any group into a huge monolith, as you risk ignoring those who don’t necessarily fit comfortably into their group, based on societal standards, for one reason or another. It’s sad to see a woman, in one breath, admit the fickle nature of attraction, but then fail to mention how that affects others as well-even white women. Not to say that eliminates the disparities she mentioned, it’s just insincere to not paint an entire picture if you really wanna go there. It’s lazy and halfhearted, and clearly selfish. It’s also interesting that her first instinct was to resort to classism when she got angry. As a self-proclaimed comedian, this is *extremely* lazy of her. She didn’t use any wit and just lashed out like a spoiled teen. Also, for a comedian, she gets real butthurt, real easy. Her aforementioned lack of acknowledgement to intersectionality, caused many of the very people she is flippantly defending to catch strays…like…girl. Also she really just can’t say she ‘hates people and only wants money’ in one breath, then try and say she loves people and isn’t a raging capitalist. Something she’s realizing is that you cannot have your cake and eat it too, you can’t make people hate you and then expect unquestioning-support from them. It’s seriously giving ✨narcissistic tendencies✨

Honestly, i think she makes good points when it comes to how POC are treated in the world. If she stuck to that content, i think she would have continued to grow. Unfortunately, she seemed to have let the bitterness get to her. On the other hand, I'm not sure if a white creator would have gotten as much hate in the end. I can empathize with her.
@Arishé-045 ай бұрын
Like she has valid reasons, it's just like.... combating racism with more racism and being loud about being a content creator is insane. I’m going to have to respectfully disagree because I feel that the problem is much more deeper than race. If it was just about race then it would be the same across the board, wouldn’t it? But it’s not. It has a lot to do with socioeconomics. Allow me to put it this way: is life easier for a white person who lives in poverty or a black person who has enough money to live comfortably? If we continue to just look at things as simply about racial background and not include things as environment, family background, education, etc. it isn’t going to help the situation. As for whether or not a white person would face this much hate… um… yes, yes they do. They face a *lot* of hate and heck, some have even had their careers ended over similar situations.

You forgot to mention the Pyrex situation with Fanitta that happened right before Tarte. You can see people mentioning it in the clip of her live while she was in Miami. She was crying about Pyrex lowballing her for a collab and her audience was supporting her and demanding Pyrex pay her fairly. Then when the Tarte situation happened she completely disregarded Bria’s experience and called her a liar.

As a black girl, that used to be fat (not self disparaging I loved being fat). I have never been able to watch Fannita for long because making your race and weight the entirety of your personality can be so exhausting to listen to. Using it to defend any slight against you is an argument that lacks power the more it’s used. Not to say that in some ways your anger isn’t justified but to be in such a state that you can’t be pleasant for your own self in your career, means you need to take a break beloved. And not to say she doesn’t look good but she could stand to gain about 20 pounds because that’s why her eye are looking so big I don’t believe it’s drugs or mental health (at least I hope not).
