My first introduction as a kid to american comics and Marvel, was "The Fantastic Four". And it began with n°259. And o boy, to bein' thrown into it like that! There is a "Marvel Masterworks presents The Fantastic Four" volume 24, that collects the numbers 258-268. With the one that got me hooked completely, being n°262 "The Trial of Reed Richards"! For a kid to whom Star Wars in the '80s is the epitomy of awesome, that issue n°262 of The Fantastic Four, had it all! The cover alone, seeing all those different alien faces, but inside also, so much sci-fi going on. Just pure bliss. That volume 24 has it all: A very brief history on the Fantastic Four (literally), Dr.Doom, the Silver Surfer, Galactus, Namor, Alpha Flight, the Watcher, Wanda, Vision, Doc Ock, She-Hulk, all those different alien creatures, Odin. The Fantastic Four ending up in Secret War.

The word usually used to describe this type of aesthetic is "retro-futurism." You see it in a lot of things and is always appealing to me. You see it also in "Fallout" and in games like "Bioshock."

Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four is the F4 comics I grew up with a lil girl, so I certainly recommend that. Very mature and some crazy science fiction and action. Given that the next Avengers movies will take some inspiration from his Secret Wars comic event (which spun out of his Fantastic Four run) I definitely think it'll be essential reading in the coming years. Also, agreed with the person who suggested Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo's Fantastic Four, before Hickman that was easily the best modern day run on those characters.

My favorite fantastic four comics is the run from mark wade and mike weiringo from i think the 2000s its what made me love the family and made me scared of Dr Doom

The Jack Kirby/Stan Lee run is a great start in terms of reading. The John Byrne run is awesome as well. The Mark Waid / Mike Wirengo run is also a great read

I used to read The comics way back, this looks very 60s vibe and definitely a different Universe from the usual MCU one and Directed by the Man behind WandaVison.

Jack Kirby/ Stan Lee comics for the foundation. It has the 1961 to 1963 we can do anything, go anywhere feeling.

Okay, here's the old guy and even I was a little late to the party - the seminal Stan Lee and Jack Kirby run - so much of the MCU came straight from this comic. 102 issues plus 6 annual stories of crazy mind bending adventures. Here are the highlights First issue - the origin - astronauts encounter cosmic rays which give them diffrent powers - one way of looking at it - they're earth, air, fire and water And their first villain the Mole Man (you've tseen the Incredibles - think the Underminer - up to this point this point The Incredibles is the best Fantastic Four movie.) 2nd issue introduces the Skrulls (the green shape-shifters from Captain Marvel) it's only by the third issue that they get their costumes issue 4 - reintroduces 1940s anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner (the character from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) issue 5 - first apperance of Doctor Doom - the character RDJ is playing (may have an unannounced cameo in the movie) issue 8 - introduces the Puppet Master and his blind daughter Alicia (who becomes the Thing's girlfriend). issue 12 - first Thing battles Hulk issue 13 - The Red Ghost and his Super Apes - Russian scientist recreates the incident which gave the FF their powers - also first enccounter with the Watcher (the host of What If...?) issue 18 - The Super Skrull - the Skrulls find a way to duplicate the FFs powes issue 19 - introduction of Rama Tut - one of the versions of Kang (seen in the end credit of Ant-Man Quantumania) issue 20 - first appearance of the Molecule Man issue 34 - first appearance of the Frightful Four (two villains Human Torch encountered in his solo adventures in Strange Tales, one villain borrowed from Spider-man and Madam Medusa - the lady with long prehensile hair. (we've also entered the era of multiple issue stories0 Annual 3 - the wedding of Reed and Sue - everybody who's anybody in Marvel comics is invited. issue 44 - Madam Medusa has a family - introduction of the Inhumans (brutally butchered in the TV series of the same name - best features Anson Mount s Blackbolt - reprised the role in a comic accurate costume in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness - and Lockjaw the huge teleporting dog.) issue 48 - first appearance of the Silver Surfer and Galactus (the big shadow over the city and the huge head with the - let's call them - horns at the end of the trailer) * issue 51 - This Man...This Monster! Possibly the best single issue story - centered around the Thing and introduces the Negative Zone issue 52 - first appearance of the Black Panther, introduction of vibranium, first appearance of Klaw the master of sound (the basis of Andy Serkis character in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther) Annual 4 - the return of the original Human Torch from the 1940s issue 56 - the return of Klaw in a more deadly form issue 57 - Doctor Doom steals the Silver Surfer's powers. issue 62 - first appearance of Blastaar issue 64 - introduction of the Kree (GOTG movies, Captain Marvel movies) issue 65 - first appearance of Ronan the Accuser (Guardians of the Galaxy volume 1) issue 67 - introduction of Him - who years later became Adam Warlock (Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3) Annual 5 - first appearance of Psycho Man - and Sue is pregnant Annual 6 - the Annuals were were basically an additional issue with a new 20 page story and reprints of previous stories - this one was 48 pages of new story - the first appearance of Annihilus and the birth of Franklin Richards (even though he doesn't get that name for about 10 issues) issue 81 - Johnny's Inhuman girl friend, Crystal, who had been hanging with the team and helping out since issue 61 temporarily repplaces Sue as an official team member issue 94 - first appearance of Agatha Harkness (Franklin Richards' baby-sitter), Sue rejoins the team full time, Crystal returns to the Inhumans What did I skip? Reappearances of villains, villain team ups, Hulk returns to battle some more, crossovers with Ant Man, Dr. Strange, Daredevil, Nick Fury, the Avengers, the X-Men..., recurring appearances of the Inhumans, the Black Panther, the Silver Surfer and Galactus one off stories - filler issues which are still fine stories - but could be skipped if you're in a hurry to get to he juicy parts. * the Marvel Method - Stan "wrote" every Marvel comic for years - how is this possible - Stan would meet with the artist, they'd discuss a plot the artist would draw twenty pages based on the plot (with notes to clear up any confusion of what was happening) and Stan would then do the dialogue. Proof that Jack Kirby had an imagination that was out of the box - he turns in the drawings for issue 48 - Stan gets to page 8 and says to himself, "Who's this guy?" Jack had gone beyond the plot that he had been presented with (essentially the FF battle god) and created the Silver Surfer, the herald of Galactus. Sometimes Jack would come up with a character - present Stan with the drawing and a story wou;d emerge from that (for example issue 52) roles John Malkovich (the long haired, bearded old man) could be playing - the Red Ghost, the Puppet Master, the Molecule Man, Franklin Storm (Sue and Johnny's dad), Nathaniel Richards (Reed's dad) and a time traelling old man Franklin Richards.

My question about the movie is, how will RDJ’s Doctor Doom tie into the movie or tie into all of this? How will this movie lead directly into Doomsday and Secret Wars because right now we still haven’t been introduced to Doom yet, so I’m intrigued to see where they go with this and how they tie all this up and to see RDJ’s performance as Doom

There are some great comics recommendations in these comments. I’d just add something a little different, Fantastic Four Life Story, by Mark Russell. It’s different in that it’s not really in the standard Marvel comics continuity. But it covers many of the major events in the FF stories, like the coming of Galactus and dealing with Dr. Doom, Namor, etc. in four issues, available collected in one paperback. It tells the stories with the characters aging over time from 1961 to 2016. It also gives Sue’s development over the decades a major focus. Maybe check it out if you like some of the other runs mentioned in the comments. As a side note, I don’t know if you’ve ever checked out SW comics, but there some great runs. My top picks would be either of the Darth Vader runs by either Kieron Gillen or Charles Soule. The collected editions of the Tales of the Jedi or Old Republic stories are also really good.
