The Farm changed the direction of my life.

Oh my gosh, this is such a sweet recollection! My husband and I were founding members of The Farm. We were starry-eyed and idealistic and so optimistic about "changing the world". To this day, I consider the years we lived on The Farm to be strongly formative in what I believe and how I have lived my life since. Thank you for sharing this clip from the past!

Very sweet. Interviews with members of the The Farm, 2022 would be a great followup. And interviews with founding members and where they are today, children and grandchildren. My time on the Farm continues to be the template by which I live my life.

In the summer of 71 I met some people from this caravan whose bus broke down in Boulder County, Colorado in route to The Farm. There was a lady, about 6-7 years older than me, Oakland Annie, her 5 year old son and her sister, Lindy, who was a year younger than me. I camped with them about a week, and they had to go back to SF and asked me to hold the bus down until they got back. So I got to know some of those people and what they were all about.

great interview with peter. there was a book by the book publishing a few years later called voices from the farm which was a colllection of short stories. first it had no pictures and later was reprinted with pictures. i have given copies of the book to a lot of people over the years. peter is an excellent person to interview. since then people have scattered around the world but we maintain contact mostly through facebook. it was an incredible experience

I visited briefly in the early 70's. Nice people but it was at a time when Stephen Gaskin was in jail for marijuana; my friend and I were using a car belonging to my parents (with permission), but the people in charge were worried that we were runaways or something, I guess, and they separated us and gave us the third degree when we first arrived. I remember that the guy who questioned me was a big fierce-looking fellow with a full black beard. They put us to work fertilizing the vineyard, and I was too young and immature to like working much, so we only stayed the one day.

That's where my family is from. My dad was the pot grower & my mom Chris Miller is 1 of the OG 15( FOUNDER OF WHOLE FOODS) I WASNT born there I was born in Austin. But my father Jeff Miller told me later on in life that a bunch of kids committed suicide cuz they where being bullied cuz they where different. But I got some crazy stories about the farm & the beginning of WHOLE FOODS from catering for Bob Dylan to Christmas party's for Willie Nelson

Wow! I went to see Steve Gaskin at "The Family Dog' in 69. It was great to hear him speak. I did not know of his background so appreciate your info on Steve. When Steve finished speaking, someone dumped a large jar or bag of orange sunshine tabs on the stage and I was fortunate enough to scoop up a bunch of them. Probably some of the best acid I had experienced! I gave most of it away to friends and ate some of it. It was "far out". man! Oh the memories!

I too, was summarily thrown off in the middle of the night, during a snowstorm in my case. That's what they did to the second generation. We, who toiled and worked sans high school diplomas and money etc. These useless pricks screwed us. Now they know it and are trying to figure out how to get us back.

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video on The Farm which was cool I lived at Jesus People USA community and still a long haired after all these years though with a changed heart and peace 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZbin. 😀

I spent some time there in early 70s I was visiting my aunt. I stayed in one of the house's with about 5 family's. I brought alot of hash but after couple weeks when the hash ran out they said i had to stay in the bunk house and go to work 😆 They were a great bunch of ppl tho. It was cool seeing all the buses they came there in , good exp but not for me.
