Except most of the game is played off the ground. This got me thinking though. Is there a length maximum for all clubs or just the driver? I wonder if his irons are all the same length. Imagine what his wedge swing would look like if it was the same length as everyone else’s.

Why? A tall baseball player doesn’t get to use a longer bat or a bigger glove. A short pole vaulter doesn’t get to use a longer pole. A short high jumper doesn’t get to jump over a lower bar. A big tennis player can’t use a bigger racket. Hockey has limits on the length of a stick or the size of a goalies pads. A longer driver would not only give an advantage on drives but also on penalty drops. A quarterback with small hands doesn’t get to use a smaller ball.

I'm 6'10" and an athletic 270. 44 years old and golfed since I was 12. I shoot par and under every so often. Thank God for club fitting options over this past decade and jumbomax grips. The 90s were a struggle when I was playing in high school. My clubs are 1.5 long and 3 upright except the driver due to this restriction in length. I don't sink down like this, I just accepted that I'm not going to get a ton of shaft lean and rotation. I've tried coaches and GOLFTEC. A random coach just can't relate or wrap their heads around the needs of people my height.

Even at 6'4 it's been a struggle for me to have coaches understand that most taller guys simply can't swing the same way that someone who is 5'10 can. Interestingly enough, I play the same specs as you despite a 6 inch height difference!

Height might be a factor, but you still have to have your swing mechanics dialed in. I have a friend who is 6’11” and he can only hit his driver about 225 carry. And that’s swinging as hard as he can.

Height IS a factor, not “might be”. It’s physics - longer levers. Your friend can only hit 225 because he’s terrible, but it’s all relative. If he was 5’11” he’d probably hit it 185.

The problem with golf is , everyone has their own swing. 99% of golf teachers lack this knowledge. A great teacher adapts the swing to the golfer.
