Kudos to the two viewers who shared it. I even hand polished that needle bar and did not see the mark. I rubbed some dirty grease into the mark so it would show up in the picture I took. It's a very shallow line. Thanks for watching.

Great info! Thanks. Is there an easy way to align the presser foot bar? Mine was misaligned and it took me forever to align it.

No easy way that I know of other than aligning it with the open slots of the needle plate. It is a pain and if it is just a little offline the fabric pulls to the side. I know in the future I will be double-checking every presser and needle bar I work on, haha.

My problem is, the needle hits the front of the hole in the throat plate. Thats the kind of alignment I was looking for.

Here are the most common causes for a needle strike to the needle plate: The Needle Clamping Screw is loose. Incorrect seating of the needle in the Needle Clamp. A bent needle. A bent Needle Bar. Hi Andy I'm a fan of your explanation. I have a single 15 and it was kept in my garage for many years so I removed all of it and cleaned it up and this needle bar hight I'm not sure with the needle bar bushing position I need some help with this

Hi, Philip. Yes, the settings can vary by model. There are a few variations of model 15. If you do not care to signup at the site, you can buy the guide from the charity that made it www.tfsr.org/product/sewing-machine/ The guide covers how to refurbish most of the parts of the machine, including the head (nose area)

@@eric12062009 Welcome. I know that a Japanese company named Marutzen made some Jaguar models for Sears & Roebuck, but I don't pay attention or follow other brands than Singer so I can't advise. Many years ago I realized several companies had made machines for Sears and that parts, manuals, and repair guides were hard to find so I just stuck with the Singer machines. You should be able to just Google "Jaguar sewing machine" and find info. There are also many vintage sewing machine groups online, so I'm told, and people there are knowledgeable and happy to share info. Good luck, Philip.
