Share this video with someone you know who's car is making helicopter noises. This video will show you the tips and tricks of how professional mechanics diagnose a bad tire or wheel hub bearing that's making noise when the wheel isn't loose and how to tell if it could be a CV axle too! These are the 3 tools I use together to make changing hub bearing- including these in this video much safer and easier. Press → amzn.to/2HcqoDA Press kit for collets (screw fails without XPL lube) → amzn.to/2HgHdNX Socket set to use as collets / extensions for speed → amzn.to/2VzgIfp

Dude I always enjoy your videos but this really helped me with my Hellcat.. I already paid the price from the dealership saying it was the rear differential, they wanted almost $3k, I did it for $600... although still had the same symptoms, so much for the pat on my back, then they said tires which wasn’t the issue when they diagnosed differential but finally I could describe the noise enough for the internet to find me your video... I had the bad axles which caused the leak from the side of my differential which is a sealed unit and had to be replaced but was on my way to a third... thx

Thanks so much for this video. I think this is the only one that is closely showing, what I am experiencing on my car now. I get that same wah wah sound when I drive and is very noticeable when I turn left. It is almost identical to what is in your video. So you are saying it is a bad bearing? I simply need to get the wheel bearing replaced, or is it something else? Really sorry, but I'm not very smart when it comes to this sort of stuff and I need exact details. Thanks so much again

Most times potholes are on the right side of your driving lane. Also curbs. The jarring from hitting those will speed up the wear of the bearing.

Thanks for posting this. I am having a super hard extremly hard time locating a similar sound on my 99 Chevy Blazer 2WD. I have replaced the tires recently, only have a couple hundred miles on them. I also replaced both front hub bearings at same time. All four brakes with new rotors. Sound is almost identical to this video. I first thought it was rear axle bearing or tires. Tires were out of date so I did them first, no change to sound. Rear chunk was rebuilt 20k ago and I had to replace the trans with a used one less than 10k. Truck has 206000 miles on it. The 4.3 motor and all runs great, no codes. Looks good for age. I just can't afford to replace with something new. I've taken it to several mechanics but they can't seem to be certain either as they said they didn't find any play in the wheels. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is the sound that I hear on my truck and a mechanic and a dealership have fixed everything BUT the bearings in the back and recommend me to fix the rear differentiator vs the bearings! They had me replace the bearings in the front and I still have the sound. I have a 2017 F0150 and I feel I'm getting the run around a lot. Only $3600 invested so far and 4 brand new tires.

And when available, use Tapered roller bearings vs Ball Bearing they hold more vertical and side load), I think Subaru changed their rear bearing design to tapered after many premature wear
@Blazer02LS
@Blazer02LS 5 жыл бұрын
Used to be that most cars used tapered rollers, then they switched to ball bearings in the front when they started using the unitized bearings and complete hub assemblies. I have never seen a unitized or full hub unit that was available in both types. 99% are ball bearing designs.

I do way more right bearings than left. My thought that the right side is on the edge of the road driving through all the puddles and picking up most the salt. I have had people that go through 3 or 4 right bearing sand the left one is still good and original to the car.

I have one wheel bearing on my car that sounds about the same as on your demo. woh woh woh woh woh and getting louder the higher speed the car get. Also more/less depending on outside temperature and for how long i drive the car. Cant determine which sides bad though. Inside car it sound from driver side (left) sometimes it sound like the sound coming from right passenger side :) Dealer changed bearing on one of the sides a couple of years ago. So i think its time for the other side now. I dont think its the axle that are bad.. what will that sound like? I have no clunking or metal banging sound. Just that woh woh woh woh woh.. and vibrations and the woh woh feel in steering wheel and in my pedals/floor. Really expensive to change though here with quality bearing. Last about 10 years so thats good.
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 5 жыл бұрын
That sounds like it could be tire wear issues from a bad alignment. Tires will do the same noise. Rotate the tires to the back or swap a known good set.
@orfeous
@orfeous 5 жыл бұрын
@@briansmobile1 i will do the alignment after the bearing replace. Because me and my friend replaced my lower control arms. The woh woh woh sound has been for a good long time. Maybe 1-2years. The tires are good. The same sound on winter tires :) I can report back after the bearing is replaced. Waiting on my personal mechanic at dealer to book me. He has been on education for two weeks.

I live in the rust belt and my experience is the right side always goes first. I think its because the salt and slush is always deepest on the right side of the road, because of the road crown. I always change both anyway.

I have my vehicle making sorts of humming or grinding noise when decelerating all the way from 40km/h to the stop, what problem can that be? I also tried to keep the speed around 30km/h for a range of distance, so the speed was kept around 30km/h all the time, the sort of the humming and grinding sounds are appearing the most noticeable during the journey. I’ve replaced the brake rotors and pads as due to the noise, but the noise just stays the same.

On those you can listen for noise as you rotate them by hand, then try to lift the axle up in the housing. Play vertically = wear. The thing with them is that the axle itself is the inner race of the bearing. So you need to replace the seal and bearing, and if there is any wear on the axle it gets replaced. Unless you have a version that can use an axle saver style, those move the bearing to a different spot on the axle where it isn't worn.
