For the first time publicly Stevie breaks down the lock up torque converter from the worlds fastest NHRA Pro-Mod legal nitrous run in history (Bahrain 1 Racing’s Barker Max’s Cameo named “Moby Dick”). In this video Stevie tears down inspects, how to set, explains the do’s and do nots and assembly of his Neal chance lockup torque converter.

@dmeemd7787
@dmeemd7787 4 жыл бұрын
Oh God, me too! As I was watching this (I can just imagine walking from a pit I'm working in or just hanging out and walking over to another pit) and watching someone load one of those bolts into their impact like they are putting up drywall, lol, and immediately hearing the impact beat the sh*t out of the bolt...followed by 2 more scenarios in my head 1) the person quickly stopping and realizing they might be able to salvage it with a tap but still sh*tting themselves because they won't be working on the car anymore or 2), they don't let off the trigger until the impact stop hammering because there's no aluminum threads left or no head of a bolt left.. LOL.. and my guess on that is oh, they make that kind of mistake, then god only knows what else they've done to that car (which is SKETCHY) haha Speaking of, anytime teams are just straight-up shorthanded and/or have volunteers that aren't too experienced, the anxiety level definitely for me being on a crew or watching a team (especially when they are shaking down a new.car, etc..especially high-power stuff, people aren't looking at stuff such as header bolts, body fasteners and so on, just to name a couple examples, things that you do not want falling off the car and going under the tire or on to the track for somebody else to run over and so on. Something I've seen with a few different promod is they may only be running a high seven or eight second quarter mile because they literally are making their first hits and slipping the crap out of the clutch or converter, usually intentionally and anytime you're potentially adding a few SECONDS of ET, the guys GOTTA check everything, especially once they're at the shop - otherwise you don't know how often things will rattle apart oh, what kind of service live your particular car might have and so on...AAAANND I'm going to stop here because I didn't mean to derail THIS much LMFAO 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

I've heard people and do dome of the DUMBEST stuff when it came to converters, and everything I could remember them saying, never sounded right and you just made fun of 80% of them LOL - makes me feel a little better 😂 - awesome video and thank you for the time to do this!

Man what a loooooong dry spell since the last tech vid and when is a Q and A vid ever gonna happen again ? Really enjoyed the info about that type of converter. How much do they cost and how much do T/C drives for the trans cost ? You need to do another ping pong ball drawing for fans that lets them help with the car in the shop. I'm not gonna anything about the clutch disc left on the table or anything about turbans (since you have been to Bahrain so many times) or ask you where your mask is or remind you to stop touching your face lol Needed to see some Stevie Fast .......thanks for making the effort and keep yall safe there now.

Two dowel pins in your work bench say 12 and 6 o'clock. dowel pins line up with the holes where the flex plate is bolted. this will hold the convertor in place while you torque all those bolts.can you drive the dowel pins on the convertor through the bottom

Craig Phillips the different viscosity of the fluid affects the stall speed. It is a way to adjust without having the correct parts or used in a converter that cannot be taken apart. Sort of a poor mans solution.

Great video Stevie! Was surprised that you guys use a sprag in the convertor, especially with the amount of power you guys make. Any advantage to using it versus the convertor being spragless? I've heard spragless is good for 1/8mi racing and a sprag is good for 1/4mi racing, any truth to that?
