Spent a wonderful couple years in the 90s away from my home in Canada and living in UK. Loved the Fast Show, Red Dwarf, Black Adder and so much fantastic Brit comedy. Favorite Fast Show sketch by far which I still reference to this day is Rowley Birkin. And the best one was so typically unique to great British comedy much like the infamous tragic last scene of a comedy Blackadder Goes Forth where they g over the top to their deaths - where Rowley talks with great joy (and 80% incomprehensible as usual) about his first love and great sadness at losing her. Still embedded in my memory all these decades later. Genius.

Excellent to see them together again. Loved the show. As did all my mates in school. Catchphrases definitely iconic 😊

Do you know what the saddest thing is my daughters who are in their late teens have no comedy, cultural touch points. If you grew up in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s even the noughties with the inbetweeners but nothing in the last ten years. No shared comedy and to me that is very sad.
@frankswildyАй бұрын
My 15-year-old has Inbetweeners as a cultural reference point and quotes it regularly - only problem is he hasn't seen full episodes, just snippets of the 'best' bits on KZbin.

The Office, Peep Show, Phoenix Nights, This Country, People Just Do Nothing, Green Wing, Friday Night Dinner, just off the top of my head. Granted some may be slightly outside of 10 years old now, but the point remains. There have been a fair few great comedies since you claim there were none. Truth is too, The Fast Show just really wasn't that funny, it was the same sketch and catchphrase over and over and over again. Watch it again now, and I reckon you will also see that it really didn't age well and doesn't hold up at all today.

Rowley Birkin is one of my favourite Paul Whitehouse character's of all time 😂. Paul's innate ability to bring these characters to life, and to make us feel like they are real people is something I've always admired. His Julio Geordio sketches from Harry Enfield and Chums is nothing short of genius 😂

They still have it, there's some excellent sketches in this doc. I wish they'd do another series, 2024, we need something to make us laugh.I'm not quite Rowley Birkin yet, but I'm trying, need to work on my gibberishishic nonsentical wafflings.. : ) Not seen this one, thanks for posting.

The Fast Show, defined my early teens, couldn’t wait to watch it on a Friday night (after shooting stars) on my sisters crappy portable TV (mum and dad would be watching Gardeners World or something on the proper tv)! Back at school on the Monday me and my classmates would spend the entirety of registration quoting the latest Fast Show episode!! 😅

Nostalgia makes people forget that it was a very hit and miss show. They remember the hits and forget the misses. It was probably 40% genius and 60% shite. And some of the later sketches were absolutely terrible.
