Thank you! I just tried batik for the first time and was having issues with this step. Very helpful to see the entire process of boiling it out. I didn’t move it around nearly enough in the water on my first attempt.

Wish I had the room to do this, but it is such a wonderful medium. So much you can do. Thanks for this!!

Do you have a break down of how you set the dye? I have had issues with this for years 😢 can you do a studio tour id love to see how you set everything up

I teach that all the time, in person at my studio and in online classes! Let me know if you'd like my help. I also have a free blog where I write about this stuff: waxonstudio.com/blog

I tried this, my last dye came out. All the indigo went in the pot! What did I do wrong?

But what do you do with the waxy leftover water?

Wax won't be in the water-- it separates.

I've done this dozens of times and the wax does separate but is a nuisance to be rid of. It's very messy. I prefer ironing my wax off.

I still prefer removing wax with hot iron (batik between newspapers)
