@@106640guy Servers don't come with bloatware, they usually don't even come with an OS. At least our Dell systems don't. If anything they come with the media to install Windows Server or VMWare.

We use the same CPUs in gigabyte blade servers (4 1cpu nodes/u2) and it can handle BUNCH of VMS The only issue we ran into is... Availability 128GB ram sticks are basically unobtanium here

@@Angel2kinds There are 16 RAM slots. How much do you need? You can get 2TB using 64GB sticks. That would be ~10GB of RAM per VM at 200 VMs. Yeah you'll need more in some situations but plenty will require less as well.

Ampere Altra does have a dual processor 128 core(per processor) now, their old dual processor 80 core(per processor) would trade blows with Zen2 Epyc but Zen3 does have a pretty good performance boost over Zen2 so they might still trade blows

You missed the most obvious use for tons of cores, RAM, and storage: virtualization. I have VM hosts running 30-40 VMs with dual 18 core CPUs. Depending on use case and VM requirements, I could easily see running 80+ VMs on a server like this.

We actually do high performance virtualization with systems like this. The high core counts mean you can run a much larger number of virtual machines and containers before seeing any kind of real contention or performance issues.

8:16 was a missed opportunity to edit in a follow through that windel set up for you. Lttstore pops up on the desktop is an edit that would have matched the subliminal tone perfectly. No matter how goofy you make the edited graphics, or if you include them at all, lttstore.com famous Segway dialog right after would have hit sooooooo hard. Good video, blue touchpoints aren't a indication where you put your hands or fingers it also indicated that its "cold swap" aka you cant remove it while system is running, Orange however means it can be "hot Swapped" aka you can remove it while system is running. this is how its Run in Dell systems and as far as i know HPE systems the reference design also indicates where we put the motherboards and how we set these all up. fans and the likes are best practices so independent from AMD or Intel

I'm actually looking to upgrade my current server...eyeballing the new Epyc stuff hard. Looking like the value proposition isn't there vs the Xeon stuff, though. Currently looking at a dual Xeon 2699v4 system for a few grand. Actually QUITE a lot of bang for the buck!

Jake's OK on his own, with no one to be obnoxious to. It feels like he's the junior employee who has taken winding up the boss a bit too far as he doesn't know his place, but I assume his personal and business relationship with Linus behind the scenes means that his place is a lot higher up than I'd imagine. I love everyone else, but Jake rubs me up the wrong way, probably because he reminds me of myself :D

Go back to some of their older server videos. Any time they start up they go full blast for a few seconds. I have 4 (older ones) in my office, I wouldn't want to work with them on max but they're not too bad normally.
