Jejking Well the BBC would have been filming the race at the time, and they didn't always cover qualifying, and certainly not practice sessions, plus onboard cameras were much rarer at the time, only on a few cars, so that's why theres no footage of the lap.

+John Bergqvist BBC definitely showed the lap. I have it on VHS. I used to tape the BBC "Grand Prix" highlights programme they showed each Sunday night back then and they showed that lap on that programme.

Amazing times. I was lucky enough to actually witness this. I stood at Clearways as Rosberg came through to complete the lap. He did in fact have a slow puncture in the left rear tyre, so he oversteered across the track, leaving huge black lines, not lifting off till he crossed the line. I'll never forget seeing it. It ranks alongside seeing Gilles Villeneuve at Brands Hatch in 1980. F1 was incredible back then.

Martin Cosby - he left black lines during the German GP, at the Ost Kurve once while driving a Williams. Damned if I can remember the year or locate that video. And no, it wasn't in 1982, that much I am certain of.

Nigel hit the rev limiter going around Club in 6th gear. When he asked his engineer at what speed in 6th gear his 641 would hit the rev limiter, he answered 295KPH. Mansell around Silverstone was just badass.

I was there for that! Back in the day of the one-lap special qualifying tyres. I was at Copse with the father of my then-girlfriend, and it was incredible just how fast the cars were. He was a good amateur race driver too, racing in the Porsche Giroflex Challenge. We drove up to Silverstone in his new Audi 80 Sport...had a proper thrash on the way back home along the A40...ah, such memories!

I was there it was the first time I ever saw f1 cars I’d love to say I remember watching Keke’s lap but I was 7 years old all I do remember is Manfred Winkelhocks fire extinguisher going off by accident in his car, the cheers for Nigel Mansell and falling in love with Formula One

At no point did it cross your little mind that while you match the hp between the 2 cars, you have about 50x downforce compared to the cars those days... so what Keke did on that lap far exceeds ANYTHING you have or will ever do with the present day cars.

+BadTrip Who cares about personality if he wins races? He's not a movie star or stand-up comedian. Right now he's beating Lewis Hamilton - the third most successful driver in F1 history in outright wins and widely believed as the most naturally talented driver in the field.
