I have the aforementioned previous model (2020 Endurance SL) and totally agree that it the most stable bike in terms of handling cross winds that I have ever ridden. It really is a great road bike for less cost than most of the "big name" bike manufactures. My only issue is the weight, my bike too weighs 8.18kg (18lbs) and I feel that just a little too heavy than it should be. By comparison, my older Felt Z3 road bike weighs only 7.4kg (16.5lbs) same size with the same equipment.

Nice that Ollie went the extra mile to weigh it: dedication! (Not that I’m buying it.. Don’t like aero bikes usually but SUPERNICE! A small Lancashire company, producing their own stunning idiosyncratic designs out of composites, painting them crazy colours and sticking it to the big boys. Having deja vu here. Love it. Ribble, stick at, ignore the nay-sayers out there, you deserve to do massively well!
@DavidMartin-tk4fs3 жыл бұрын
@@channul4887 based on the fact that they are out there making something happen for themselves while the armchair tinkerers Chuck sticks and Stones for no obviously good reason other than attention for themselves. Having seen the other videos out there and negative comments here, why is it not cool for Ribble to pay for a little promotion when every other company you have actually ever heard of has done exactly the same? This video is clearly marked as an "AD" after all. As for the so-called roastings; it’s all more pedantic supposition based on photos and videos rather than actual analysis based on contact with the product or development process. This bike needs to get out there and race to win its spurs and the Co. probably does need PR kicking into a higher gear, but it also has to sell bikes to afford to develop products. As for delivery time issues, that is a well documented, Industry wide difficulty at the moment. This is no Johnny-come-lately brand and deserves at least some respect. If you don’t like the product, cool, be individual and buy something with a giant/trek/s-works/Scott on the frame, and live in the knowledge you’ve made a safe choice, as none of them have never sold out or paid for advertising or been spat out by the gazillion in some Far Eastern sausage factory.
@DavidMartin-tk4fs3 жыл бұрын
@@channul4887 what I’m saying is, whether experienced in the field or not, those making the other videos , and more so some of the commenters who for their own reasons seem to have axes to grind, won’t have been directly involved so don’t know the project aims so are unlikely to be in a position to claim whether or not the product has achieved them or not, especially without having even been in contact with the thing. Also poo-pooing industry standard testing methodology just seems churlish , almost 5 year oldish in some cases. Having an opinion is brilliant. I have one and am expressing it because you asked 😉 but receiving encouragement from your own private echo chamber isn’t quite the same thing as informed debate. What really cheeses me off is the way people all seem to pile in on the “little guy”when he tries to make something of himself instead of getting behind what is a brave move upwards in a very competitive market place. It seems everyone out there is looking for some kind of disingenuousness in the product or it’s promotion. This bike is about a third to half the price of the usual suspect equivalents and is apparently not a white label cheapo marketing ploy, so is it not only fair to temper expectations over details such as the less integrated headset and give areas of innovation like the aero handle bars a chance? To be fair the configuration of the headset, while slightly old school these days, does at least allow for more standard headsets and bars to be used without the bike looking like it has had the cockpit nicked and replaced with whatever was knocking round the workshop. I’d love to see it prove itself in competition to either vindicate the design or drive improvements but either way cut Ribble some slack and even encourage them in their push to improve themselves and the breed in general by bringing a potentially great package to market at a more accessible price point. …and no I’m not involved with ribble in any way but was at TVR who suffered a lot of the same nature of negativity from some quarters and, as alluded to in my first comment, I see some positive commonalities between the two companies. Roger and out. 🙂
@DavidMartin-tk4fs3 жыл бұрын
@@channul4887 I still don’t see the issue with sponsored content as long as it is marked as such and, without actually using the bike it’s impossible to say whether or not, for instance, cockpit’s aero concept actually works or not. Calling BS before trying it just is a bit sad. The 5 year old thing was a reference to a joke in a video mentioned a lot in these comments which I thought you might get. Sorry to offend.
@DavidMartin-tk4fs3 жыл бұрын
@@channul4887 all I was saying was Hambini and others haven’t actually had the bike in the room, let alone ridden it. Yes, the engineer dropped a clanger on the average speed thing but most of us know enough basic physics to see that for what it was, someone not used to being on camera slipping up. Happens all the time on many videos... we can have giggle at how clever we are and he will have to buy his mates pint. On the aero critique, maybe classical aerodynamics does say the perfect scenario for laminar flow is one where leakage in between the bodies travelling together should be minimised but in the real world the effect of soft air in the turbulent lea of a bluff body is appreciable. It’s amazing how far off the back of a cage backed flat bed Transit T350 tipper you can pick up the tow in Suzuki Super Carry - you can feel it start to suck you along from easily 50m at 60mph. 😉 I suspect it is this general effect that the aerobars are looking to achieve on a smaller scale for the rider's knees with the Kamm tail style rear surface treatment rather than a totally unobstructed boundary layer. The stationary mannequin seems to be stumbling block too but, as Ollie mentioned, this is an industry standard method previously documented in his aero video as are the yaw tests which were shown in the aero luggage video with Si and Emma. For me, the stationary aero mannequin does make some sense as the time you might make the highest gains in speed would likely be descending a climb, the fastest parts of which the rider probably will *not be peddling*... just a thought. Construction Quality issues were also brought up because of what was identified from a photo as a void in the carbon lay up. To be fair it could just as easily have been a paint blister or a PPF bubble. Without being in the room with the bike it’s impossible to be certain. Marketing certainly slipped up letting the photo through I agree. I just prefer to default to positive and give anyone the chance to prove their claims and quality preferably in competition. This is a small company and even a small amount of negativity can make a big difference... as I said before, I do know. If you’re not 100% convinced, cool buy else where but don’t deride them for trying.

I mean I understand that companies want to provide as fancy as possible visualization of their 'aeroness'...but the depicted models only have still riders in them. That is far from reality...as long as one assumes that Ribble don't want to claim the bike to be the world's most aero bike while freewheeling...

Do you guys test bikes like these? Normalize tires and pressure, roll them down a hill, or ideally a tunnel where wind is less of an issue. I did some test like that myself. Surprising how fast fat slick MTBs were vs my basic steel road bike. Up to 40 kph no noticeable difference. Headwind, where air speed easily hits 50 kph, is where it starts to matter. I am back in the market for a road bike, but I want a real fast one. Wish there were ones with higher BB, as it seems silly to not have custom length cranks for my 39"/995mm inseam. Unless there are super shallow pedals that make me get away with 185-190mm or so...

It's a shame isn't it, I think GCN have wonderful presenters and some of their videos are truly entertaining, but these 'associated' ones you could watch with the sound on mute and gain as much insight as there isn't a single thought or opinion expressed which isn't inline with the manufacturers blurb.

Very nice but what would be the wattage savings from aero gains at an amateur riding speed? In the neighborhood of 20mph.

Absolutely aero weapon. I liked so much! I think this is the fastest aero bike!!!

The flat top bar looks very uncomfortable, especially for someone with small hands. I prefer round bars including the drops. Round bars have a better and more comfortable grip than ergonomic ones. Try climbing with a flat top bar and you will find out how uncomfortable that is.

Looks and price are good but does it performs? The handlebar does not look like other respectable and proved models on the market, is it efficient\innovating? More tests please.

what is the 2.1% improvement in relation to? It can't be total time or else 2.1% of the time it takes to do 40 km at 35 km/hr is 86 seconds. am I missing something?
@luukrutten12953 жыл бұрын
Its probably fast, but most of the recent full aero bikes dont do it for me. Look at how old fashioned the first gen aero bikes look. This one will be no different in a few years. I like timeless designs.
@jasrod20122 жыл бұрын
@ Luuk Rutten: you are exactly right. This will like old and dated in no time. It’s fine if you’re using it to race, but for general purpose use, it’s not great in the long run.

Is this rideable on the tops? I am finally going for a new bike day, and I love this whole look... but I ride on the tops quite a lot when doing super long endurance rides!

I think some of these numbers are messed up. In particular, he quotes a "2%" improvement in the bar compared to another aero bar at 11:00, stating that this would then correspond to 2% improvement in riding speed. Maybe, this could be possible. But, he then claims there is a 40% improvement (11:05) compared to a non aero bar - clearly that number can't be 40% of overall speed. No bar makes you 40% faster.

They said you save 23s with 35kph in 40km, how do they calculate this one if two bike both ride at 35kph, the time should be exactly the same if they ride in same speed🤔
@adamolig38653 жыл бұрын
They calculate the power required to do 35kmh on the regular enduro bike, then keep that power on this aero bike and calulate the new (faster) time, dude.

In case anyone was confused, the entire video was shot outdoors (not just that little bit at 7:45). A lot of bike riders must spend their entire lives indoors.
