You’re both so happy and passionate about the sport, really shows in this great interview 😊 just love ultra cycling. Makes me want a full squish rig now, just to see…maybe even a skin suit🤠

Love the podcast. Glad to hear Justinas' corrective on aero for ALL races and racers. I'd clarify a slow rider benefits from more than just headwind induced apparent speeds because power units, being rates, have a time component. Aero drag has been shown to be the biggest force acting on cyclists above just 18kph. So yes, the drag and wattage savings are less for an endurance-paced rider but the time on the bike is increased and thus aero optimization makes sense for riders at [almost] any speed. The only race I would not consider aero optimizations is a strict hill-climb event where there is no descent. On hydration bladders I agree it's a little easier to drink from a backpack but would note there are benefits to a frame bag that for me outweigh that by a large margin (in fact I never really considered it difficult to a degree where it impacts my riding.) For me not carrying water on my back helps a lot more than difficulty sipping. Also, on hot days, the water in a frame bag will stay icy cold for hours vs on my back - no matter if it's in a sleeve or not. One trick to mitigate pulls is to take in several sips before swallowing. Also, if you have something on top of the bladder (like battery bank) it becomes sort of pressurized.
