LOL Here is the deal. You can NOT set these Drag and Drive cars up like a ProMod car. Here is why 1… the tracks we race on are NOT prepped for PDRA /NHRA professional prep. They are a mix of no prep / radial tire prep / big tire prep. Drag And Drive has to COMPROMISE to try working with everyone on track prep. So…. I compromise perfection for trying to get down the track on the first pass every time then Load up the car, hook up a 1750 lbs trailer to my ProMod wagon and drive my ProMod wagon pulling that trailer for 8 to 10 hours…ohhhhh and then do it all over again the next morning at a different track. 2…. My car IS 100 percent stock body! It is put on a SOMEWHAT ProMod chassis. My chassis had to be altered from a real ProMod car to fit the body. It is NOT capable to work as well on the perfect track like a real ProMod car 3…. My car weighs 3635 weight matters that first 1.000 second weight matters a lot! 4…. So, my 400+LBS over weight, chassis set up to go down radial prep tracks, no prep tracks, big tire tracks without ever changing the set up (because we don’t have the time to do it in a event)… will only go a 1.08 ( so far) when the top TURBO cars will typically go 1.01 to 1.03 sixty foot🤔🤔 Finally why would I do all this? I think I may do a video going into more depth on this.

drag cars especially are always abused, hardly any warmup if at all to migrate the pile to bearing, then blasted wide open for burnout, then staged and launched like an missile. gee what could ever go wrong? bearing only hold so much oil and unless you warm them up( idle spinning on stands) they rarely get enough pre-lube and the remainder in the bearing races isn't quite enough, also the pump helps with cooling it all.

You are very right about "stretching" the tire/s Steve. I learned that trick in 79 when I was racing my A/SM Camaro out of Batten's shop. I was at Indy at a Divisional and kept watching how Don Bowles was handing everyone in the class their a$$! Other than the fact that Jack (as in Roush), was the crew chief and had every secret weapon in the car, Don was putting everyone away, especially on the short side. I got curious and went to his pit and talked to him, (Don). I asked him what tires he was using and of course he replied, "what the class requirement is." Class requirement was 10.5-inch width. Well, they looked like they were 12" wide. They were Firestones and the width was 10.5 ON THE TIRE. I measured them and they were 11.5"!! Needless to say, I asked him if he wanted to sell them. He thought about it for a minute (without talking to Jack), and he said "sure, you can have the wheels as well for $500." A no-brainer there. When I got back to Batten's I told him about the experience and he chuckled, slightly. I said, "what's so funny," and he proceeded to school me on the "stretching" trick. A lesson well learned!

Time 635 Jack screws to remove cover. Grind the end of the bolts flat that are being used otherwise the end of the bolt will tear up the surface. Most bolts have a rolled thread and this results in a sharp end.

To pull my rear 31x18.5” tire and wheel on my 1960 Hillman Husky 2 dr wagon Pro Street car I have to pull some bolts out of the ladder bars, shocks and loosen the whole side of the rear end I’m removing them from. Rear pain since those the tires are tucked way up inside the wheel wheels and quarter panels. 😊

Looking forward to the G3 Hemi detailed breakdown of shiny bits video. As to the tires with the promod making 50 passes before a swap, those cars weigh about 1000 lbs. less than the wagon, correct? They're subjected to less PSI on the contact patch so that's something to keep in mind. Lastly, no video should be without Scooby Dewey making a cameo. LOL Cheers!

tire aging and compound hardening is just as big an issue as high pass counts and total wear. also aging from UV/sunlight. best to keep them covered/stored inside in controlled climate. if you want more seasons with less total runs.

I'm curious to see if the turbo coating affected the impeller speed when coming up on boost, compared to without in the past. It will be hard to tell what it does once on the 2-step since the wastegates are working from that point on. But should make the turbos more efficient across the board, and quicker to recover down track.

Commenting so the algowhatevers keep it up. I'll go rewatch the other one too. It sometimes amazes me the similarities between our worlds. In the video some of them include growing tires(we do that a lot on dirt and asphalt alike), I also switched rear ends after exploding a 9"(leading, turning 8100 when it let go. That 8800 rev limiter struggled!), carbon fiber driveshafts( huge safety for circle track cars).

The tire size difference makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you cut the 16" wheel/tire in half from top to bottom, the wheel and tire is half a doughnut. the diameter of the two cuts which is the tire and wheel cross section will be 4" more with a 20" wide wheel.

Loving the tyre tech talk Steve! Really feeling the Sick week build up! The trick evolution of the wagon is a work of art. It takes me back to something over here 🇬🇧 in the early to mid nineties. I’m a flat four man, and a creative friend built a beetle race car called Bugster. He chopped and channeled the body, took a mould and produced each panel in Kevlar then attached to his space frame chassis. So similar to yours with removable quarters (albeit yours being steel). His damn car barely got as high as your nipples! It was a work of art. Anyway, thank you for the video and the informative tech as always 🤙
