My fastest way in learning a language comes from my experience in learning French. I tried learning it for an entire year, but failed... Then I tried again for five months, in a different way, and I achieved much more than I did in that previous year...

This video is only one tip for learning a language quickly. It's what worked for me and I hope it does for many others. There are many other ways and you're welcome to share them.

I agree that immersion is the best means of language learning. This is how I actually learned English myself. When I was still a beginner, I used to talk to myself quite a lot in English, several times a day. I'd imagine two people talking, but I did the dialogue myself. I'd also follow a BBC broadcast on English learning at 4 pm. The sources were scarce back then, so people are luckier today as they have more chances with the variety of sources they can access. Extensive listening and speaking, before anything else. That's the key.

I gotta agree. I made a lot of progress in Russian just listening to the PImsleur tapes, listening to Russian music, watching videos and interacting with people whenever I could (online). It all felt so natural and easy and I didn't really have to actively think about things! When I did a course, however...that pretty much killed my interest, lol

Wonderful video, and I completely agree. However, most people cannot immerse themselves due to work and other responsibilities so I think there is a compromise that can yield good results. Audio books....and even better, audio books designed to be at your current level. A1, A2, B1, B2 etc This will provide listening and reading comprehension, it will provide a vocabulary that is easier to remember than flashcards because all the words are associated with the story. You can find audio books which involve topics in which you are interested so that it will not be boring for you. Another option or addition is podcasts...there are many podcasts specifically designed for language learners and many of them provide transcripts. I do believe that speaking is important, but I also believe that massive volumes of input at the beginning is of great benefit. How can you speak if you do not yet have a vocabulary and if you are not familiar with sentence structure or are not comfortable with correct pronunciation? I think the large volumes of input provides all of those things, so that you now have the foundation so that speaking will be much easier. Note: I am only currently learning a second language so please take what I said with a "grain of salt". However, I've tried all the traditional methods and my progress was very slow. I started reading and listening to audio books and podcasts and I've made more progress than I made with any other method of study. I think if you spent 1 to 2 hours daily of focused study. for 30 days, you'd be able to successfully communicate on some level although of course there would still be mistakes. You have to embrace the fact that you will make mistakes. Immersion is surely even better, but what I described might be a compromise that would yield good results.

This 💩 was entirely too long, either immerse yourself or don't. She said this was what worked for her.

@@eciv2006 Sorry... I didn't realize that you were the YT comment police. Is there a number or email so that everyone in the world can submit their proposed comments to you for approval before posting them? If your attention span is so short, and reading on a 6th grade level is so difficult for you that you cannot take the 1 full minute it would have taken to read my comment, then don't read it. I see that you did take the time to post a snarky, childish comment. I suspect that someone of your caliber would prefer comments such as, "thats whack" or "that's fire" or some other thing that a person such as yourself might say.

@@chandie5298 sheesh, that was a little better. I’m a college graduate, a masters degree to be exact. She’s trying to help people out and stated this was what worked for her. You got in the comments being negative. No one is going to read all of that. 😘

@@eciv2006 So you did actually read what I wrote.....but you did not evaluate it on any rational level. I was not negative at all.....not remotely negative until your garbage post. So I was negative toward you in response to your negative directed attack on me. However, I was not negative towards her in any way whatsoever. I was simply posting my experience about the topic of the video. If you reply to this post.... will you begin your reply by stating the FIRST SENTENCE I WROTE in my original comment please? My completely irrational, unreasonable trolling friend.

My goodness. Just applied to a French school in France for 6 months immersion course. Just waiting for the outcome. Exactly the same reasons because I want to relocate to Canada. Going to write trade exam challenge and want to work in Quebec or NB.Please do me a favor. I do need some books if you do have some.

I was practicing the language with native speakers for a short time, then I did not find anything to talk to, so I stayed for about 7 months practicing the language with myself, reading articles in English, and translating them into my Arabic language. Do you think this is enough for me to be like native speakers, or no?
