Loved everything about this sit down discussion! I will watch it over again. So real, raw, honest and genuine. Elaine was very comfortable with her company. Became a bit emotional when she mentioned how much she looked up to Asafa growing up as a child in country and having the newspaper on her wall. Thanks for explaining and giving us such a great insight into the track and field world. You guys surely put in a lot of work and time and still have to fulfill your contracts. The dedication and commitment, days with injury and pain, never go unnoticed. Yes you all are right! We are humans. Sometimes the decisions we make in our life is not popular but it’s to better our future. There is life beyond being a current athlete. Elaine give no reaction to naysayers. Just keep focused and be you. I would be the happiest camper if I get to meet both of you one day. Jamaica needs to cherish their athletes in good and bad times; on and off the track. To the Powell’s, great open discussion. Love it. You will gain a follower. Thanks for sharing.

It's not a Jamaican thing. People all over the world have high expectations of the people (athletes, politicians, entertainers and other public figures) who represent their countries, because the thought is that when you win, we all win. People think they know you or you should know them, because they see you on TV. That being said, you are human beings who need to be treated with respect and appreciation, whether you live up to our expectations or not, whether you win or not because you make great sacrifices for your accomplishment. The fact that our athletes get to represent Jamaica, already qualified them as winners because they had to win several races in order to qualify. Scrutiny comes with the package of being a public figure. Just remain true to who you are. Thanks for representing Jamaican on the world stage, in such magnificent ways.

I am a huge fan of this series. Asafa was a great athlete for Jamaica. I do notice the slight Jab taken at Jamaicans by Asafa and I understand it. Jamaicans are unique, we all believe we are superstars and act accordingly. That’s why celebrities don’t get bothered here. The public loves our athletes for the most part but a lot are not able to approach you in a correct manner. Don’t take it to heart. We love all our athletes unconditionally. Some fans go overboard with the criticism. That is mostly due to their own under achievement and using athletes to vicariously bring them joy. Just know Asafa u r loved here more than you would be anyplace else. Just that Jamaicans lack a bit of tact, don’t hold it against all of us.

They not experience no mass amount of negativity. Elaine and Asafa like to focus on negativity too much.

I understand what you guys are saying but it's unfair to say Jamaicans, you should say some. Politicians, police, pastors, journalists are all critize harshly at times, you are not alone but maybe you are too sensitive and so you take things personal. Jamaicans are very outspoken and love to voice their opinions. If you do good, you get praise and if you do bad you get critize. Some of your comments sound upity and petty.

Is this response to my comment or to the Powells ?

Thanks to the Powells for using their platform to highlight the joys, struggles, pain , anguish, and lives of our athletes. It is not often that we get an in depth perspective. Hopefully the Gov't can do more and do better in supporting their sacrifice.
