If the Muppet Rock & Roller Coaster doesn’t have a Danny Trejo cameo we boycott the ride.

I’m heartbroken that’s it’s being demolished. I hope they preserve it in a museum as an attraction 😢

People have been talking about re-theming Rockin' Roller Coaster to the Electric Mayhem for years now. Glad to see it's finally happening. Sucks that we're losing Muppet*Vision 3D, but at the same time, this is a Disney park. The Imagineers are going to put some really cool Easter Eggs in the new Monsters Inc. attraction in remembrance of it, and I can't wait to hear about them. Honestly, I don't think putting the film up on Disney+ would be that bad, depending on how they do it. I mean, maybe have a professional-level recording of the entire attraction running, sort of like what a lot of stage shows do. That would be awesome, because then you wouldn't lose the pre-show or the animatronics or the Sweetums walkaround bit.

Disney needs to put The Muppet Show back in production. If they do the same format exactly as they did in the original show with big stars as guests every week they would do big. Taylor Swift one week, Robert Downey next week. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the week after, Snoop Dog, whatever, put it on ABC, Netflix, Disney plus and make it a big production. It would revitalize everything and give people an opportunity to see performers interact with classic Muppets.

Tragic to say goodbye to Muppetvision. At least we get Rock’N Rollercoaster. Fingers crossed we get more. I’m lobbying for a Muppet studios area on Sunset Blvd

A Muppet Studios area would be amazing! Heck, they could even do a new version of Muppet*Vision to put there!

This is some very sad news. Hopefully the land and the show will come back to California Adventure in the Hollywood back lot area. By the way, I just subscribed to you.

Disney has done the bare minimum with the Muppets. At least they got a better treatment than Star Wars lol

I honestly think Lips will keep staying with the band for the future, because he developed like never before in The Muppets Mayhem last year, and that show easily is the best Lips appearance, so I'm not surprised that Lips is still getting a great treatment! Despite how old Muppet*Vision 3D is, it's still a shame that they're closing it down, because it has a lot of legacy with Jim Henson and The Muppets! I'm not as upset as some fans are, because Monsters, Inc. is easily my second favorite Pixar franchise after Cars, and Cars and the Muppets have both been my favorite franchises for the past four years now! As a Californian, I've only gone to Disneyland and California Adventure, but never Walt Disney World. Oh well. 🤷♂️

The official statement from the Henson Company says something like, "we'll see what Muppetvision 3D has in it's next chapter". Yes, I am heartbroken that Jim's last contribution, and a True Theme Park Classic, is being destroyed. It's been a looooong time since I saw it in person. I saw some footage on here and I gotta admit guys, it's showing its age a little bit. I love The Muppets, and have been saying for years that Disney either needs to "Bring them back to the Parks, or let them go". The World needs The Muppets now more than ever. And I, for one, would love to see Disney attempt an actual Muppet Show, not that lame "Muppets Now" reboot. Muppets Now lacked substance. Even Muppets Tonight had a through line/theme in every episode. Muppets Now was more chaos than Muppet. Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked. Yes, it's sad the original is closing, but hopefully, when they revamp it, it'll be like it never left. Hell, maybe they're updating the effects, and show as a whole, which would require a new building? And I for one, have always been curious about the Door Coaster since they announced it, and thought "this would be a cool ride" when I saw Monster's Inc in theaters as a kid. I'm choosing to be optimistic about this situation. Maybe "Sunset Blvd" will become all about The Muppets? Maybe they'll bring back The GMR with Muppets like they thought about initially? I don't know what their future holds, but let's be optimistic.

I think this shows disney does care about the muppets and wants the property to do well. If Jim saw that his same ride was up for 30 years I think he would tell them to tear it down so he could make something new haha. The ride was not Jim’s magnum opus, just another project for him before his death. That being said I hope the rollar coaster has plenty of nods to muppetvision!

You're right. I highly doubt that Jim would have wanted Muppet*Vision to go completely unchanged for 30 years. I mean, it's not like he knew it was going to be his last project and poured his heart and soul into it.

Considering modern Disney's ride output over the last few years, I don't have high expectations for the Rockin' Roller Coaster Muppet retheme. Especially because so much is going to go into making the Monsters Inc. area, I have a bad feeling that they're gonna do the bare minimum with this. This is not going to be a good compromise for losing Muppet Vision. I know they said they're gonna find ways to preserve the show, but I feel like they're gonna do the bare minimum with that too, like putting it on Disney+. I really don't want to be pessimistic when it comes to news like this, but Disney needs to give me good reasons to not be.
@MuptownFunk2 ай бұрын
Disney's rides have been pretty hit or miss over the last few years, honestly I think it's just too early to say. But, they have several divisions, so it's not like people won't be working on this because they're working on the Monsters Inc stuff. In my opinion, both of them are pretty basic rethemes. I'm not expecting the best Disney parks stuff ever from either of these projects.

I'd like to see it rebuilt over at the Center for Puppetry Arts, if anyone can save Jim Henson's last project, it's them. I think the roller coaster idea is terrible and lazy too. It's automatically going to exclude the younger Muppet fans as well as elderly fans, people with disabilities, or those of us who just don't like thrill rides. The Muppets deserve a new dark ride of their own that everyone can go on, and this whole thing just stinks of Disney not giving a crap about providing family friendly entertainment anymore.

@MuptownFunk2 ай бұрын
It certainly isn't. None of the trademarks of ai art are there, this very clearly looks like an artist bringing their own take to the muppets, though clearly with heavy reference images. It's a shame that people immediately jump to accusing people of using ai with everything now, it really discredits the time and love that artists put into their work.
