Excellent discussion. Keith: I really appreciate your point in seeing the demand for dollars drying up eventually when considering dollars priced in gold versus gold priced in dollars. The idea that eventually there will be lots of people trying to buy gold with dollars and nobody willing to buy dollars with gold. Liquidity drying up. Well put.

Some thing that’s often overlooked is that the world is basically run by small businesses. They are the largest employers. They are the marginal producers. And all of them want dollars. Whether to transact in or the owners to save in. This is extremely downplayed by the dollar bears. I assume none of them have ever run a business

Fantastic interview; however, I was disappointed none of the panelist risked answering some of the difficult questions asked by the audience. I understand the macro perspective is important, but the finer details for how that plays out is just as important. I suppose I was expecting some sort of timeline or inflection points supported by data and model for how the macro story plays out.

I like Brent Johnson's analogy about the storm drain and the Euro dollar system pulling out liquidity. But on serious note here, what's the deal with Keith Weiner's hair.

Great interview, 2 things:the USA population has already lost faith in the dollar, but it is proportional to the decline. I.e. would you stash singles in a box for your grandchildren? No, you know it will lose value, but ok in the short term. My unique perspective is that the us falsely bestows real estate with the ideas of what they should be using gold for.
@wtfUateMYjello8 ай бұрын
Confidence in dollars might be low; however, there is high confidence in real estate and stocks. Dollar is the instrument for entering into that market. Therefore, by association, there is strong demand for dollar.

Ok yeah. Good. Gold. Absolutely. But BRIC+ now accounts for 40%+ of world GDP. Their common gold-secured crypto will significantly reduce the demand for USD.
@anthonyferris89128 ай бұрын
But most of the worlds dollars are created outside of US jurisdiction, as balance sheet transfers, in the Eurodollar market between non US entities.

Great interview but visions of sugar plums in getting to an honest money system. Although I am all for it, the cheaters will always be there and find ways to exploit any replacement monetary system. There are no easy answers for this.

Great panel discussion and these gentlemen are definitely smart. But they seem to be missing the forest for the trees. They are playing checkers in a world where guys like Michael Saylor are playing chess. The obvious solution is bitcoin (digital gold) I guess time will tell.
@JaxVideos8 ай бұрын
It might take a lot of time for BTC or the like to 'become' digital gold. For starters, the legal precedents are not breaking that way. Your ownership of the gold coin in your hand is almost unassailable despite the fact that some of it may have once come out of the looting of past empires (Asian hoards subject to Japanese occupation, e.g.). Whereas the particular Satoshi you bought that can be definitively traced to a murder for hire not so long ago stands on far shakier legal grounds. Time can cure these things, but I'm not sure it will, considering that digital gold bills should be circulating before this decade is out.
