So many emotional scenes in this ep. The little girl who was sold by her parents. UGH. I cry everytime GangTae "protects" her so she can speak her piece with her father. Finding out that MunYeong's dad had brain cancer did put some puzzle pieces together. He feared he wouldn't be around to protect her. Also, glioblastoma's do have the ability to not only do damage to a person's regular motor functions, but it also alters their personalities. I don't know why he ultimately thought killing her was the better option. I loved that you started questioning how "off" the head nurse seemed sometimes. I enjoy riding this emotional roller coaster with you. Keep up the good work!

Ok, so I wanna mention a few things. 1. Love your reactions, always so heartfelt w/o feeling fake. Thank you for sharing your experience to the wonderful stories you pick. 2. You mention wanting similar stories recommended. Ok, Seo Ye Ji (Moon Young) is a wonderful actress, such a shame she is "canceled" in Korea over dumb controversies... Anyway, besides Eve, which is a criminally underrated but amazing drama, I gotta recommend SAVE ME. This is a hard one, it deals a lot with Korea's history with religious cults and the hard and nightmare reality behind it. It has fantastic acting and it's a crude reality to watch. And I will mention again, IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY, this is a 2014 literal treasure of a drama, that is also not talked about enough. The parallels with mental health, childhood trauma, domestic violence and such, Tourette syndrome, so many topics rarely talked about to this day in Korean TV, heartfelt, wonderfully acted, fantastic soundtrack, OMG this drama needs to be watched. Hope you consider it. 3. Whatever lip convo you are wearing on this video, looks GORGEOUS on you. That's it for now lol

Without wanting to justify Yoo Sun-hae's father in any way, but it is a rather recurring story in many Korean productions that of parents who turn to shamans whenever there is some difficult problem to deal with their children. This obviously falls more heavily on older generations, less educated, more inclined to believe in superstitions, which in reality, in general, the Korean people tend to believe due to culture and therefore there are many cases of children who were, in practice, tortured by the shaman on duty who would exorcise any problem he was suffering from; Flower of Evil comes to mind for example, which reports a similar fact, but in general it is something rooted in the culture of this country, which is highly superstitious, to turn to the figure of the shaman. As I was saying, this is not meant to be a justification, but I understand the mental and cultural mechanism that leads these people to make these choices thinking they are doing good. That said, Yoo Sun-hae's story is the result of a relatively bygone era, that is, that in order to discipline children it was necessary to resort to violence, just think that corporal punishment in Korean schools gradually began to become illegal only after starting from 2010; this is to give an idea of the general mentality. In any case, as is well framed in the episode, what is most controversial is not so much the abuse of one of the parents, which is still serious, but the total indifference of the other, who preferred not to see what was really happening, supporting everything. Then, I speak from personal opinion, I believe that those who forgive do not do so for the person who perpetrated the abuse, but for themselves, for a sense of inner peace; here I connect to the words of Sang-tae, paraphrasing, that love is better than quarrel, because feelings of resentment do more harm to themselves than to those they are aimed at. Obviously this story is linked to that of Moon-young and his parents, in which, apparently, the father pretended until the end not to see what kind of person his wife Do Hui-jae was, at least until he realized that he had killed Kang-tae's mother. It must be said that at that time Ko Dae-hwan was already suffering from the brain tumor, so his ability to understand was compromised. In any case, his account of the story, namely the assassination of Do Hui-jae, could be tainted by illness and not remembering correctly what happened. The same goes for Moon-young as a child, who may remember what happened incorrectly. Having said that, applause Woo Jung-won, the actress who played Do Hui-jae in the flashback, who was absolutely disturbing (thanks to the excellent direction) and therefore understandable that Moon-young had a traumatic childhood for her fault. Going back to this, although Moon-young didn't want to know anything about her father until the end, understandably (even if personally I think it was healthier for her, as I was saying, to visit him) the fact that the last memory she had of he was probably one of the few happy ones, that is, when he read her a fairy tale (which I imagine influenced her to become a writer of fairy tales, in addition to her mother who was a mystery writer) I found it reassuring, like a desire to say goodbye to him with a benevolent thought and not a malevolent one. In the end, although incredibly distorted, probably also due to the disease, Ko Dae-hwan's fear that Moon-young would become like his mother was understandable, which, of course, does not justify his attempts to kill her, but, as mentioned , the disease may have had a significant impact. As I was saying, knowing what you know now, looking back, you can pick up several clues about the characters of Park Haeng-ja and Park Ok-ran: the clues are subtle, but if you look carefully, Park Ok-ran has defined as a fan of Do Hui-jae, in addition to this, it was said that she was an actress and that, it seems, she was preparing for a role in her latest episodes (that of Do Hui-jae, first provoking Ko Dae-hwan and then to Moon-young's house for her birthday). As head doctor Oh Ji-wang guessed, it wasn't Ok-ran who wrote those notes, but Haeng-ja, where she probably gave her instructions on what to do, including the one left at Moon-young's house. If you look back, when the two women interacted together, Ok-ran did not seem to recognize Haeng-ja as Do Hui-jae, in fact he treated her badly, therefore it can be deduced that Ok-ran did not know of his identity and therefore they communicated only with the notes and that Ok-ran didn't know that she was the one who gave them to him. In one scene Haeng-ja said that she liked horror and thriller stories, which links us to the genres of Do Hui-jae's books, namely detective stories and thrillers. And then yes, the biggest clue is when he deliberately freed the patient position that Ok-ran occupied when she ran away, leaving even the doctor perplexed, because he was aware that she would never return... If you analyze then you can find other subtle clues about Park Haeng-ja's character, but it must be said that this part of the story is the most controversial of the whole drama and generally divides the audience; now I won't say why it is divisive, but there is a logic behind it, however debatable, which I will discuss at the end. However, yes, I too, like you, when the twist was revealed, was shocked, because in reality I hadn't even suspected her at all. I don't know if it makes you a bad person not to be moved by Ko Dae-hwan's story, me a little yes, but I tend to always want to make the best out of things, so maybe I'm the weird one. Having said all this, moving on to the sweeter and funnier notes, the whole courtship part of Sang-in and Joo-ri tickles my romantic palate, also because he makes a series of very funny gaffes. I also loved how Joo-ri and Moon-young have definitely become closer, leaving old grudges behind. Thanks for the reaction. Off topic: well, since you asked for recommendations, apart from the already recommended in the past Daily Dose of Sunshine, Castaway Diva, The Atypical Family and Our Blues, I would recommend My Mister, Twinkling Watermelon, Flower of Evil... The first ones that come to mind.

Interesting take on Ko Dae-Hwan's story, I've never actually thought of his memory being fractured due to his tumor and also again with the cultural situation about the older generation was interesting to learn more about but extremely heart-breaking and unfortunate. My love for the simple ease of Sang-In and Joo-ri is high, there wasn't any forced interaction between them. very simple plot Man falls for girl hard and girl falls by giving man a chance. Also I've not watched some of the recommendations you shared so they'll be added to our ever growing list 😂.
