This man is unbelievable. I advice you guys to check out his song "Drive" live in Montreal. What he does there is just even more crazy than on this video. A true legend. The way he can change from high notes with head voice to low notes with breast notes that quickly and smoothly is beyond perfect.

I don't know the technical term for it but the mic trick giving perfect fifths under a certain frequency is an amazing idea for such a form and it fills the harmonic space very efficiently. He is not only a brilliant singer but also a very clever performer.

I grew up with this dude, so it's easy to forget that not many people know about Bobby McFerrin. Then videos like this pop up, and it's cool to know that more and more people in my generation are starting to hear of him. He's a damn inspiration.

Saw him in concert 15 or 20 years ago. He invited some audience members onstage to be his "voicestra". My wife got to sing on that stage that night, a moment she never forgot. He's a wonderful artist and a beautiful soul.

Fun fact: Bobby McFerrin played a lot of different instruments before he decided on singing. He played piano, flute, clarinet, studied cello, and even wrote and arranged for big band jazz.
