sarah'sshelves It was the same for me too but not at the dying parts. People were laughing at almost every little joke in the movie then when it came to the part where we find out about Gus. Can you actually believe that some people and "critics" didn't like Ansel as Gus? Are you kidding, I swear Ansel was so perfect in this movie, he was Augustus Waters. He made me laugh, he made me cry, he made me feel all sort of things. There was and older man in the theater and he was lauging so hard during the airplane scene (it was so funny, I was laughing bc of the scene and also bc of the man's laugh, like it got me lol) and then this old dude even cried during Gus' funeral. I mean I expect females of all ages to cry but when an old man does it, you just know you did it right. I loved the movie so much, I laughed, I cried, it was perfect. Shailene was amazing of course. I loved how well they showed Hazel's relationship with her parents and oh my god when she was crying when she found out that he died, that was so powerful, Shailene is just so freakin good. I also loved when Hazel told Van Houten to go fuck himself lol. Isaac was amazing too, Nat did such a great job. I'm so grateful for this story, it just feels like such a life lesson and I'm glad that it gets the attention that it deserves.

You're exactly right! This was a perfect movie adaptation of the book. It nailed the humor, the feels, and the characters perfectly. And it was just the right amount of funny that made the movie an all around amazing movie. I wanted to sob in the theater. I was so heart broken and I think every one did their part perfectly. It's like I could picture John Green in the director chair, and he was definitely a huge part in making this movie. The extras, it was just a perfect movie. My sister was like "eh I don't like sad movies" and I'm like "You're missing the point!!!!" lol I really like how when they kiss in Anne Franks hideaway house in Amsterdam, you can hear Anne Franks writing in the background, "Look around at all the beauty and be HAPPY." Even there is such an amazing message. As Anne was hiding from nazis and stuck in an attic for months on end, she was able to see the beauty of life. Ugh so beautiful.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh the film was so good! It was the first film that I have ever properly cried at. I started happy crying when Hazel's mum told her that they were going to Amsterdam, because I could relate so well to how happy Hazel must have felt! I sad cried when Hazel got told that they were taking Gus off the chemo ;( It was such an amazing movie though, and it was so true to the book as well! The characters were super likable and it was so emotional. The whole cinema was filled with teenage girls and I could just hear everyone sniffing around me XD

I feel ya. I've watched it 3 times and sobbed like a baby all 3 times. Especially while watching the gas station scene. Just... Seeing how sick and vulnerable the cancer left him, seeing how he felt about himself... Jesus. There was ugly crying while I read that part and there definitely was ugly crying while I watched it. Also, the prefuneral and the letter. I was curled up into a ball and bawling in those parts. You could hear me going "Whyyyyyyyy". Yup. I got several weird looks, but I don't care.
